How to watch demos after the soldier/demo update?

I’m gathering footage for my first, small fragvid, but with the Soldier/Demo update coming up I’m not sure if I can use the footage I have so far since I haven’t found a rollback patch for the current version of TF2.
Anybody know a way I can still convert those or should I start converting the footage I have tomorrow?
Just copy all your tf2 gfc files and tf2 files. And then use them to watch old demos when the update comes out.
I’m not sure if it will work… haven’t tried.

Just talked to Skyride about this. According to him, all he copied was:
team fortress 2 client.gcf
team fortress 2 content.gcf
team fortress 2 materials.gcf
And it worked for him
Hey bill, theres a great guide here: http://www.mithun.org/solus/tf2_demos_easymethod.pdf
cc//Buffalo Bill, I recommend that you also copy multiplayer ob binaries.gcf. It seems that nowadays you also need that cfg file to work with older demos.
Solus is going to make a new patch when the update is out.

Who is “Solus” and what do u mean by new patch?
Solus is an Australian guy that has been making rollback patches for TF2 so you can watch old demos. You can play them back to the heavy update.
download the latest patch here: http://www.mithun.org/solus/Rollback%20Patches/tf-rollback_dec17_soldierdemo.rar
read the link in my earlier post
I’ve followed the guide that SirRemix linked and downloaded the tf-rollback_dec17_soldierdemo.rar patch but the game keeps crashing. The demos start playing but crashes as soon as someone gets killed.

same here
Im presuming you can’t run the PLDX demo tool when using Solus’ rollback thingy?
