Not sure if this is the right section, but it is for movie purpose so w/e

I followed this http://www.pldx.com/blog.php/2009/06/importing-half-life-2-models-to-3ds-max/ tutorial to import tf2 models to tf2. But at the step with MDLDecompiler it wont extract the model(s)

The message i get is “Unable to load model” if any one knows how to solve this problem i would be very happy since i really wanna try out 3d animation for tf2

Thanks

metalpiss

The mdl decompiler doesn’t like long paths for your files. Try putting what you need to extract in a folder on your desktop and likewise for the output directory.

Oh but by the way, you’d be better off importing the smd’s offered by valve, since they released them. They’re located in “Steam steamapps ACCOUNTNAME sourcesdk_content tf modelsrc player WHATEVER parts smd”.
…why the heck does this forum remove backslashes?

Refresh your sdk content, that should do the trick.

yeah thanks, and now to the last thing hehe

The textures how do i import them ? didn’t really understand it on the tutorial

Buck

Open up the texture in vmfedit or whatever its name is and extract the texture/s to some folder than make new material in 3ds max and set its diffuse map to bitmap and locate your texture and then apply it to the model. I added you to friends i think if you wanna talk to me about it in more detail.
