Hi guys I need help from everyone who has a clue about making frag vids.
Basically my issue is as follows.
I have used the startmovie endmovie commands to get clips from my demos. I recorded them straight to avi at 50fps with the xvid mpeg-4 codec.
The clips are great quality and playback on media player wonderfully.
I can throw them in vegas and render into a movie however I would like to use them in After Effects instead. As I have found it to be more fun and allows for better things than Vegas (this could be due my inexperiance with vegas)
However when I try to import to AE, it wont let me import the file. I can get music to work but not the video from the clips. Any ideas ?

You should be editing using lossless codecs, something like xvid mpeg-4 produces stuttering and artifacts in the final render, which is why AE won’t accept it. Try a lossless codec like Lagarith or Huffy, however, these codecs do produce very large files.
I see, though this will require me to re-record those clips ? which unfortunatly I cant as I have been rather stupid and deleted the demos. Perhaps next time and thanks very much for your help :)
You could get the clips you have into Virtual Dub and convert them into a lossless codec and they will work. You should expect a quality drop from compressing the files twice though.

Wouldnt do much apart from adding a title and credits tbh, was enjoyable even without any editing. Actually was quite nice for a change imo.
