Hey dats!

For a community movie, it’d be more like
1) Record a demo
2) Watch the demo and check the ticks for the good stuff
3) Upload the demo and send the ticks

Won’t work if everybody sends in their own clips with their own codecs, resolutions and video quality, not to mention sending uncompressed 720p 90fps footage could take some time.

ccMoose: I’d definetly be interested, but it could be bit difficult if you have already the clips as video. 720p uncompressed, as mentioned above could be a bit hard to just upload or send over, as I assume we are talking +100gb worth of footage here.

I agree with Tuna. Working on already recorded footage is really cumbersome, especially due to the fact that it has to be constantly sent back and forth between people. I’ve already initialised this with our clan. I just ask the players to post their demos with the corresponding ticks of their favourite frags/moments. I review it and deem it worthy to be recorded and to be worked on.
A similar thing can be done for the community/UKeSA, where people post their demos on a thread with the ticks and what kind of frag it is. Obviously there has to be certain restrictions on the demos like it has to be STV/POV (for consistency) etc. If this movie was released on a weekly basis, it could be a nice recap of the weeks actions. I think a similar thing was done for the CEVO league on the American side of things, and it was quite fun to watch. I know this sounds like a lot of work, but hey with the new found limelight on TF2, I think it would be fitting.

From a frag perspective, I find it much more enjoyable watching q3, ut2k4 and tf2 frag vids that cs or cod4 ones. Maybe it’s just my soft spot for air shots, but I’m sure a lot of people will agree with this. As for holding a torch up to any of the great q3 movie like say Annihilation http://www.own-age.com/vids/video.aspx?id=660, the capturing software for q3 is much superior to tf2′ really buggy Demo smoothing ‘tool’ :/ This however shouldn’t deter potential movie makers, as ut2k4 faced a similar problem, but they still managed to produce some sick frag vids:

2post1: Well not that kind of editing, but it’s a full length tf2 movie:

haha, that CoD4 vid is great – if someone can create a TF2 video to that standard, I will bow to them. I also love how CoD4 shoutcasters can go awesome.
“OH WHAT A SHOT FROM DIABLO!!!”

Maybe to make a vid that can compete with it, it should be a one class thing – but the best players of that class to be in it? Just an idea.

Puppets

do you claim a spot there as winner of a 1day cup? more i guess your upload will be faster than some randoms others download so theres not THAT much use in your 100 mb … however id love to see a top soldier movie as my favorite (dunu but i think they are most enjoyable)

I like Shintaz’s idea but maybe a series for each class or something? Like not 10 minute long videos but 2-3 minutes of each class and maybe make a mix aswell with the best people of each class (would be funny to watch everyone argue over whos the best :P)
