Hi all of you interested souls. In preparation of my next frag and non-frag movies I want to model some characters in Blender. I would need of you to have some good will and some time to help me model main classes in Blender 2.49b. If you have experience in Blender it’s even better, but if you don’t you can get some pretty soon.

Please contact me via Steam or e-mail [email protected] and I will send you some tasks to be done. Someone can do whole thing by himself, but I think if we join forces, we can model whole TF2 character set, and make beautiful and impressive animations in Blender.

Blender is pretty easy to learn, I just watched a few tutorials on blender.org or youtube and after few days I was able to model a human head, body, make 3D fire/water animation, and much more. If I can do it so can you.

Thank you all, and lets make better animations then Valve itself :D

Cheers!

Why not extract the models from the gcfs? You will only need to rig/animate then afterwards.

I believe Blender’s importers have improved greatly in recent times though I’m not sure whether they can import animation yet. They can certainly export it though.

Ive imported a few of the character models into blender before with rigs but not animations. Shouldn’t be too hard to animate them with a little experience though.

Thinking about it, I think all you need is the rig, properly named, and the animations will transfer over (because they’re stored seperately).

The rendering is probably also going to be problematic since TF2 uses a distinct shader..

I don’t need TF2 kind of render. I can do it separately. But thank you for replies. I’ll do it. And let you know if I need any additional help.

may i suggest not putting 3d character animations into a frag movie when you’re just learning, as poor 3d can really ruin a good frag movie

ih

yes, thx, actually I’m currently doing LAN movie, and I will use clan mascot 3D animation as intro.
