Best software to record screen?

Hey just what the title says anyway, im not looking to record a game, just my desktop etc for uni coursework.
It doesnt matter if it isnt free, im happy to break the law..

Hypercam and Camstudio worked fine for me.

You can use Fraps if you have any of the later versions (need Win7 though)

Why is that? I remember fraps existing before win7 did..

later fraps versions have an option to record from DWM

Snagit (depending on what u want.)
Playclaw (free game and screen capture, Low resources.)
Fraps. (Demanding hogs resources.)

If it’s a game and you have a good computer, WeGame recorder has a HQ record option.
