Aspect ratio help?

I have this weird aspect ratio problem:

How do I make it look normal?
By recording at the right ratio?
Use 1280×720 (16:9), not some other batshit insane ratio.

I tried this and it covers up some of the top and bottom of the screen. Unable to see health/ammo and some kill/death indicators.

you could try hud_reloadscheme after you’ve changed your res
I thought you meant sony vegas 16:9 setting. The 16:9 setting when I am using the pldx tool is greyed out and I can’t select it.

I think you gotta have the game launched at that resolution.
Doesn’t this also have to do with your screen resolution?
I mean, if you have some shitty small screen with a lower resolution than 1280×720 (and different aspect ratio), you won’t be able to record at that resolution…
If you record at 1280 x 720 and render at 1280 x 720, then the world shall be yours my young Cuban friend…NOW SAY HELLO TO HIM!
Oh god I have a 1024 X 768 screen lol.. so If I use 1024 X 768 would that make it look a little normal?
I always wondered why the pldx tool never fit my screen.

Yeah that is 4:3, you want 16:9. :p
You could set the PldX tool at 1024 x 576 which is your highest resolution possible at 16:9. Pretty small though, won’t be HD :(

does anyone know how to force 4:3 on 16:9 resolution?
i know this works because in call of duty games you can put 1920×1080 with 4:3 but usually its 16:9 resolution
playing 1024×768 because of 4:3 but i wanna play 1920×1080 because of my 120hz but the 16:9 is shit models are smaller then 4:3 and pretty unusual when you play for ages on 4:3
