I got bored one day so i decided to do some film editing. This is basically a rough representation of what my intro would look like if i was going to make a TF2 movie:

And one more thing… Got a 6man few months back and decided to edit that up too:

Try and keep the flame to a minimum on this thread please, if you’re going to post an opinion on the movie, try and be constructive at least, constant flame/abuse/spamming will be met with forum bans+pps.
Tanks for the feedback :D
you’re right wlv, just flaming is a wast of space. there should be less of that. to finish my earlier post: I really liked both your clips my video’s are just a bunch of clips scotch-taped together compared to this. awesome music too. Just one thing though. MAKE MOAR!
oh and please teach me how to do that!
nice campaths in first clip, did you use your editing program to tilt the camera or does that work with the ingame camtool somehow? i fucked around with that for a long time and know how buggy it is so respect for the work you put in :P but try to give it a flow, so it doesnt stop quickly at a certain point and then move on – that looks a bit shit :P other than that.. nice!
Sai: i used an ingame tool called Demo Smoother, you see it used in just about every CSS movie these days. So im trying to bring that method of editing over to the TF2 movie making scene. The stop/start bit that you mentioned towards the end of your post was suppose to move ‘with’ the music, so to speak. There are a few bits where it looks shite like you mentioned but it was a rough test afterall! =]
P.S. Whens the movie coming out? Loved F10trailer :D
i know the smooth tool mate, check out the first seconds of the trailer, you can see a campath in the backrgound :P but i couldnt remember if you were able to do such weird camera pitches, you know, roll the camera left and right.
Oh yeh, i see it. At the end of the trailer i would personally have removed the text speach such as “LOL” and “DEMO???????????????????????” :P. You do that by pressing ‘y’ and using the filter. I expect it works with demos, corrent me if im wrong. :D:D. And all the cam shots were with Demo Smoother, nothing else, you just gotta experiment :D
i liked how that text was left in,,, it was like “DEMO!!!” then he pulls off some mad midair scoped headshot. i would have been like “DEFFO DEMO NOW!!!”
as for your intro, smoothing was ok, but what i really like was the 4 shotgun shots at about 28secs in which were perfectly synced with the music + much love to pendulam :)
as for bringing smoothing to TF2 videos i’m sure your not the first, and for anyone else who wants to give it a shot heres a handy tutorial on how to do it.

also for youtube try and record your footage in 1280×720 then render your final video at the same res, then you get the HD option on youtube. you certainly have a good eye and ears for syncing footage to music though!
Cheers Boneyard, thanks a lot for the feedback.
I know im not the first person to do it, but im sure you very rarely see it in TF2 movies at all. On the other hand, you see it in 99% of CSS vids. This was just a trend i was trying to start in TF2 movie making scene, because if you pull demo smoothing off it looks SICK! :D.
In the future im rendering in 1650 by (whatever it is in widescreen res). That should give me the HD option.
