When I try and RAM preview something in vegas, I select about 5 seconds of video, and it just does like half a second and stops.

WHY?!

Is it recommend to first compile and sync all the clips and then work on the colours etc?

How do you copy and paste colours from one clip to another? :P

Magister

What is your basic colour correction in vegas?
And how do you generate the depth of field in vegas?

Don;’t think there’s an easy way to do it in Vegas afaik.

For mine I found a tutorial where the guy made a gradient in After Effects and added Lens Blur to the clip and used the gradient to determine the angle, strength and depth of the blur.

Tried many techniques with Vegas to get an easy depth of field effect, never found one.

Morf, you mind sharing your colour correction in your latest videos? Or from complexity frag movie, cause those colours were trully amazing :)

You can apply effects to a track by dragging them down to the green cross symbol on the right side of the track. That will apply the effects to every clip on the track.

I’m recording my current project in 960. Takes a lot of space but I feel like it’s really worth it.

Dont you get some sound desync when recording at that high framerate?

Yep can confirm you get desync if you record from PLDX with 960 fps. On that topic, do you know what the highest fps you can record from the pldx and not get desync?

I believe when recording in tga format the audio is recorded completely separately (which is why you need to compile the two together in vdub after). I might be wrong though but that seems like the easiest way to keep the two in sync.

I wouldn’t recommend a workflow as long as it’s working for you. It comes down to your hardware at times though, processing videos á la 5 GB for a seven minute video is hard work for your dear computer. I always edit the clips when they are lossless, e.g. do it all at once which gives me complete freedom of doing whatever I like.

Ah :) I don’t have access to the project file for the compLexity movie, but I can take a look and see what I can find the next time I can.

I haven’t noticed any unsynced footage no.

I’ll look further into this, thanks for the information.

I can’t really give you an answer as I haven’t started working with the PldX-tool until recently. I think decap is better off asking this.

Yeah that is correct.

or just do more gfx breakdowns please, like at that complexity movie or your latest sniper clip :>

dellort

Also why do you (morf) choose to do the majority of your editing in after effects? I’ve started working with both so I understand the advantages ae has over vegas, but for compiling and syncing clips vegas just seems so much more effective.
