How do you work around the bugs where rag dolls appear when you go to a tick and jerky reload animations (e.g. scattergun not reloading) or firing animations (e.g. rocket launcher) not playing?

pldx config takes care of these, jerky models is usually a problem with the demo and is not fixable
good stuff in here (apart from the jive about VCP, i only used it once! honest guv)
My question, Is it ever acceptable to fast forward footage between frags?
oh and do you know who David Fincher is?

Ha I was just about to ask that.
One other question. When choosing music to use do you try to pick music with/without lyrics specifically? I don’t think either of you have any movies with many lyrics included in the audio. Is this for a reason or did it just turn out that way?

I’m fairly sure thats just a coincidence. Good music is good music regardless of whether theres lyrics or not, its more about the style and feeling the song gives people when they listen to it and working with that.

It depends on the situation. Sometimes it suits the part of the movie or song to fastforward, sometimes cutting or doing a smooth or thirdperson shot will suit the situation better. And of course, he’s one of my favourite directors. And you do use a lot of VCP :P

Exactly. I’ve made a couple of movies with lyrics but I don’t set out to pick a song based on that. I base my music selection on style, and if the style of video fits a song with lyrics I will use it, otherwise no.
What do you think about recording at a higher resolution, and then using image resizing (lanczos3 vdub for example) to get that added “sharpness”

just supersample…

I do not prefer it over a transition but yeah, as long as you mute the audio so you don’t hear the fast-forwarded sounds. That’s just awful.
Umm, the director? Yeah sure.

No that is purely coincidence.

What? Makes no sense to me. I haven’t heard of lanczos3 or this method, care to give me an example?

I can’t stand 60fps. Looks like a slideshow, especially for classes like scout and sniper, you can’t see the players aim, which can make movies a lot less impressive. If you watch a movie like Meatshot 3 or Yz50’d you can really appreciate the players’ aim.
You say you can’t stand 60 fps, but Yz50’s movie was rendered in 60 fps by iQue, unless i’m missing something here? I’m still completely new to the video editing scene.
Also the h264 encoding trick is amazing, thanks for that. :p

I’m talking about source fps, not render fps. Recording at 60fps from ingame and then rendering at 60fps looks much worse than recording at 240 or 480fps ingame and rendering at 60fps as that creates motion blur.

I see, thanks for clarifying that. What do you recommend for in game recording then to make the final render not look like a slideshow?
Recording at 240fps
