I have a demo and I want to record a bit out of it and basically half of the bit I want to record, it jumps around madly like it’s either laggy or got low fps (when not recording obviously just playing it back) and it looks silly if I record it and it looks all laggy, is there any way to fix this?
If it’s laggy, it’s laggy. Demos are recorded based on the updates from and the commands to a server, if either was missed you are going to get lag that is even more noticeable in demos than at the time, and you can’t do anything about it.
:( at least it’s mostly at the bits where I’m moving from frag to frag and not actuall fragging so speeding up would look ok ah well :) time to get back to the blackboard!

I have laggy demos too
cl_smoothtime 0.01 and
host_timescale 0.0001 (just before you record)
help the lag significantly, it still warps a bit though.

I have laggy demos too… I think that problem is multicore rendering enabled on recording… So put it disabled before recording if your computers specs allows that :P

Don’t both of those cvars require sv_cheats 1?
Besides, “host_timescale 0.0001” makes everything happen 10000 times slower than normal.

the smoothtime didn’t do anything and apparently timescale makes it 10,000 times slower >:( This is so fucking retarted though I had good fps in the game today and hardly any lag and I go to record through pldx and it’s absolutely fucked up
