"The Experiment"

Firstly I’d like to introduce myself – My name is Alex (weevil) and i currently play for 9Men as is probably evident.
A bit of history about me, i was a head admin for Barrysworld – chiefly the BWCSL, an extremely popular CS league “back in the day” This was back in a time when clan servers were about 1000% more expensive than they are now and didnt exist more often than not. Barrysworld had a score of game servers which the teams went on and spectated by an admin throughout the game. If you don’t know your euro online gaming history (shame on you!) Barrysworld came a cropper when it was bought out by Electronics Beautique (now game.net) and slowly faded away
But i digress, my chief responsibility was to look at CS demo’s submitted to me from players whom were accused of cheating or “dodgyness” going on. Now this is going back a good 7/8 years when online gaming was nowhere near as popular as it is now, but it was still a very time consuming and a completely thankless task where every decision made was open to ridicule and complete hole picking, namely because the people who disagreed with the decisions were the only ones speaking out.
Now before the accusations start about me doing the same – I’d like the point out that I am not commenting here on the decision to ban Gryzor – a well respected member of the community and clan mate – If you wish to ban him that’s your perogative and people like me throwing their 2-penneth in on that topic will only make matters worse.
I am commenting on said “Experiment” that Gryzor did upon ex.quad where he submitted a demo to the AC Team to see what the decision was knowing that he had issues with the decision making process that goes on behind the scenes at that section.
Firstly i hope that quad nor any members of ex. has no ill feelings towards Gryzor.
I have watched both the demo and the video posted by quad on ETF2L and the decsion of giving quad a ban for those two pieces of evidence (if its more please correct me) is deplorable. A sniper getting a few headshots means frankly, sod all.
Now being an admin for years I know what sort of tasks you guys at the AC team are faced with, but like it or lump it, you are a “public body” in terms of the online gaming community and are servents to the ETF2L community, and should be accountable to us – i did it because i wanted to serve the community that gave me countless hours of fun, and i sincerely hope that is the case for the ETF2L admins too.
The “no appeals” system which reason given is to give cheaters a better chance of avoiding detection is also rather strange, now bans (thankfully) are few and far between these days due to the good work that you guys do, but like i’ve said – there is definate room for improvement. There are a handful of ways of dealing with ban appeals that means only the parties involved will be in the discussion.
Looking at it from my side (please let me know yours admins) all Gryzor has done is what i call a “mystery shopper.” This was done in the BW days to make sure the job was done correctly, and why it isnt done now i really do not know.
Is this something that can be implemented (mystery shopper & ban appeals) that gives the ETF2L admins greater accountability to the community.
ETF2L is the best TF2 league in the world and I want it to stay that way by putting better procedures in place.
