Teams are free to agree about limiting unlocks further, but such an agreement must be noted on the relevant match page.
close?
Bash, in your opinion is the FaN fixed now? If it isn’t fixed, and but problem remaining is that it deals too much damage too quickly, doesn’t this actually speed up gameplay and promote more a aggressive playing style?
I haven’t a clue about the FaN’s current state because I don’t play public and teams I play against don’t use it.
Also we’ve seen this time and time again in the past; it didn’t speed up the gameplay and in fact forced the opposing scouts to camp an advantage point in situations where they normally wouldn’t. It never sped up anything. We’ve discussed these things time and time again and I doubt we can ever resolve this argument if “your side” continues to willfully ignore “my sides” arguments (this is starting to sound like a civil war in the making, instead of the nerd bitchfest it actually is).
Yes, yes, yes everyone agrees that the TDH is bad news in its current form and the old FaN sucked the big one…
But why a blanket ban on all unlocks?
Surely they don’t get used a hell of a lot, but where’s the harm in having the option?
Things like Bonk and Dead Ringer have proven to be genuinely useful from time to time, and The Equaliser is a fucking great idea (if a little overzealous).
I understand we have been disappointed at times by Valve’s fairly scattershot approach to weapon balance and unlocks but this just seems incredibly negative.
How many of the div 1 teams who signed this vanilla thing actually use any unlocks other than medic anyway? (and maybe equaliser and jarate). It’s pretty much just saying “Hey, my team doesn’t use any unlocks, why don’t we secure it so that other teams don’t either, that way we aren’t losing anything, but other teams might not be able to use unlocks against us giving us one less way to lose a match!”.
Teams that use unlocks won’t sign it.
Teams that don’t use unlocks will sign it.
It just feels like some attempt to say to the admins ‘Look! 7 out of 10 teams don’t want unlocks in division 1, why not ban them for division 1?’. Pretty pathetic ;p Just agree it in prematch, not need to sign a forum post ;p
Oh yes and lastly….

You’re openly admitting you’re making vast sweeping judgements about game play and rules for the league with no idea of the things you’re talking about? And still you have the cheek to say people in the lower divisions have no idea what they’re talking about? Well done with making yourself and your arguments look worse than I possibly could, truly that is gryzor in his prime levels of forum idiocy.

Honest question: I am curious why do you resent the unlocks considered to be more useful like the bonk drink or the cloak and dagger watch? Do you want to sacrifice them for the greater good or do you think they are unfair/unbalanced or inappropriate?

I think the main line of argument there is that no one is here because of the unlocks, they are all here for the essential gameplay mechanics of TF2. Everyone liked TF2, everyone was happy to play TF2 without unlocks in the first place. Not everyone likes the unlocks, so by taking out unlocks the overall satisfaction with the game is maintained.
tbh i dont see why anyone whos not in div1 is even bothering to post here ;/
i want vanilla in whatever div we get put in too ;(
Because this is the “regarding the..” thread. You know, the place for non-div 1 people to post without cluttering up the other thread?
hi
i dont like tdh
This is fucking stupid. Can’t you guys just for one season stop trying to make extra rules for your very own top division just cause you’re supposedly better players?
Imagine a div2 team. This team is playing eg with a scout that uses the FAN and a solly that uses TDH. Now this team plays very successfully and manages to place first in div2, which means the will get promoted to div1 next season. Why exactly should this team have the obligation to change their tactics and play with 2x scatter and 2x rl? Because a bunch of elitist pricks cannot stand getting killed by weapons they label as “broken”, “bugged” or “cheap”? I’d say this would be rather unfair.
Just get over the fact that Valve is adding weapons to the game that are sometimes really, really good and stop making your own rules for your oh-so-awesome-top division, cause it’s making you look like idiots.
Just my .02$
Instead that div1 guys and the rest of the community should listen to the rules, the etf2l staff should listen to the etf2l community and div1 in particular.

that sums up what I was thinking. I already loved TF2 while it was beta and I can understand many people dislike the changes brought by unlocks. And it’s obviously easier to say “only medic unlocks” instead of “medic/pyro/heavy allowed, scout only bonk, sniper only razorback, spy only…” because all those classes aren’t even used most of the time, and if you do use them their vanilla setup is good enough for 6v6.
