So instead of insulting people who volunteer their time to help to make this the best league in Europe, why not try to actually get involved in a helpful manner?
how about you guys contribute too stating rules applied to everyone once and for all instead of leaving things to agreements?
I dont even think I have to bring practical examples… you should just keep it simple for everyone except just for you
I would like to say that out of the x hundred 6 on 6 teams registered with ETF2L, each with at least 6 players, (natch), getting a concensus as to what is the best way way to play this glorious game of ours, considering the now huge number of weapon/class combos that exist, and the vast numbers of people involoved is going to be completely immpossible.
The only way to move this forward is to accept that different views to yours exist, sort out unlocks with your opponents before the match on the match page, or, if no concensus can be reached then the limit 1 for the weapons considered the most OP becomes the ‘rule’.
Of course this thread will run for a while yet as people test the update and find a new playing field to experiment on.
Enforcing one set of rules over the whole league will not conform with a large amount of players wishes, whatever the decision, so allowing us to behave like adults and work it out for ourselves is surely the best option, rather than have portions of the community quit the game for good. I, for one, think there is little else the admin team could have done with all this. So +1 to them.
Of course, expecting us to behave like adults is maybe pushing things just that little bit too far…. :P

If two teams agree to play vanilla in a match, it’s between them and not us. What I’m saying is that we do not intend to support any disputes from that.
No rules have been changed, ours are still in place. Cheers :)
Let me understand: teamA want to play with all unlocks and teamB doesn’t….who chooses?
I can see in the future…and i see…an EPIC FAIL about this admin’s choice regarding the new weapons!
Go on guys, you are just teamkilling this great game!
I presume in that case the standard ruleset will apply:
FaN, Sandman, Direct Hit and Buff Banner are limited to 1 per team
Ok, but if my team and i are aiming to reach the first division we HAVE to start to play in a REALLY DIFFERENT way and in case we reach div1 we HAVE to play as we played for most of time…isn’t this an absurd contradiction? For me it just seems like a bullshit!
The rest of us in wotr fucking hated playing 2 demo teams and always protested against it.
Ok………………… so what’s different with this situation? D1 hate playing against shitguns and are protesting against it? :s The difference is that at that time your wotr team had no option to change to DL1, where the current D1 teams have banded together to give themselves that option?
The difference is, we hated it but we didnt go around asking our whole division to agree not to play it, and not play teams who used it. We awaited the admins descision, weather it was or wasnt influced by d1 players thats beside the point. Or maybe it is the point, talk with admins properly to get a compramise? Get intelligent people from D1 and other divisions perhaps?
Your not just banning “shitguns” Dunc the plan is to attempt to play “vanilla” and ban everything post medic unlocks. Does “vanilla” include maps and huds and view models off? Or a gentlemans aggreement never to play maps they hate too, gravelpit (Poor PwR ;) )
Best way to end this is have a discussion and try to compramise with the league? If not then close this thread and Div 1 players can congregate in irc/steam and sort out their Gentlemans aggreement on their own and see how it goes, if all teams in div1 really love the idea then go for it i don’t mind i just wanted to discuss it and see whats what.

I completely understand your point but I dont like how you take yourself (admins) out of your own job leaving everything to an agreement between clans and only coming afterwards if people (oh and they will) whine.
I think that the same set of rules forced to everyone would be the best thing because wouldnt be discussions or referendums other than comments like “dh is ghey omg” “rofl sword”: the game would be the same everywhere and everyone will accept the rules because they want to play in this league.
I mean we know people are not reasonable… this is going to be a big mess for a while.
This whole situation is very silly and seems like at this point some people are playing around the fact that “WE ARE THE ONLY LEAGUE: PLAY HERE OR DONT PLAY AT ALL”
I hope you guys at least understand why most people think some of the recent rules are written as safety rules for the staff rather than real rules to improve the gameplay or administration of all the season in general

Once again read whats written, if in the unlikely event you make division 1 you can use unlocks if you want, you dont have to enter into the aggreement, whats the problem?
By the time you do make division 1 i’ll probably be on my Marty McFly HoverBoard watching the 2018 world cup anyway :-p.

For the record i didnt read the whole thread.
I cant understand the fuss about this agreement between two clans. Mabye the div 1 shouldnt use long and exagerating posts for this but after all its not an etf2l rule. Its two clans agreeing on certain terms. Nothing to worry about, especially nothing to cry about.
If you think this is “snobbish” ok do that, but for the love of god do that a little more mature and silently.
And if that is “snobbish” .>

But that was my point – if there is an agreement outside of the rules, we will not be dealing with any of the whining coming from a team breaking that agreement at all.
I understand what you’re saying – it would be lovely to have every single person in the league happy about every single thing. Unfortunately however, we’re all human (or at least pretend to be) and thus there will always be someone with a different opinion or a different understanding.
We’ll be looking at rules regarding weapons again this weekend, because the FaN appears to have been broken again from last night’s update, and I don’t believe that all of the other outstanding issues with weapons have been resolved yet.
I’m hopeful that we can find a solution to allow almost everyone to be happy, and those that aren’t happy – I invite you to pm me on IRC in #etf2l and we can have a nice chat, with you sharing your feelings with me :)
just give the div1 their own forum
or my lovely div1 talk about in irc where we cant see it
I’m still against equalizer at the current state
IMO that div1 vanilla thread should have been deleted as soon as it popped up, nevermind having an admin saying only div1 players could post there.
The admins just need to man up and take a stance, this much indecision right before a new season is woeful.
If I understand correctly the admins put these ‘preliminary’ rules of limits and agreements to promote some further discussion and suggestions. Now everyone knows the point of view of most of the div1 teams.
Imo all this was to be expected with the 100+ pages discussion of the WAR update? Especially now that there still are limits to the unlocks for which I still didn’t hear a single sensible argument. It all feels like the admins don’t want to take a clear standpoint on the use of unlocks and just want to let the teams agree on it themselves.

NO sandman, NO tdh, NO bb
these are imo the unbalanced weapons.
i dont see any reason to ban something like the flare gun? the cloak and dagger? the sandvich?

don’t worry mate that’s not going to happen

Many competitive fps games have some weapons or elements banned, it is done so because not all the “new things” make the game better on competitive side.

The first part is correct skinnie. We actually wanted to get some feedback from players rather than the draconian rulesets that have appeared in previous seasons with little or no feedback being asked for or even listened to.
The second part, not so much. As I mentioned earlier – the provisional ideas were released 4 days ago… which was 29 days before the season was due to start. This is plenty of time to gather feedback, give Valve a chance to update the weapons and define some final rules which would be active at least a week before the season starts.
At no point have we wanted to stand back and not make decisions. EVERY season teams have been angry at us for not listening to players and not taking any actions. This season we’ve listened… We’ve given fixed maps. We’ve changed the way the sign-ups work so that it’s not just a rush to be in the first 330 teams or you’re screwed. We’ve asked for feedback on provisional rule ideas. – These are just 3 examples.
I may be slightly biased but I believe this is the most caring and open Admin team that we have had for a long time. We want to listen, we want to help, and we want to have the best season that ETF2L has ever had.
Thanks :)
