There is the etf2l public server which would be good to “test the waters”, but no-one’s played on there since the summer for some reason. 213.163.72.214:27015 just in case.

First off before the trolls come out, I should welcome you to the community, a few months ago I was bored of pubs also and wanted to get into competitive play.

people who are more heavily into the competitive side of TF2 would often play on Pickup servers via mIRC.

there are also some server for instance the [r@ts] 10 man DM and some arena servers.

Good luck. Come see us at nervous energy, we have a team that is often made up of our community players who want to try out matchplay TF2, most get addicted very quickly, ‘cos it’s great fun. It’s also very depressing when you realise how freakin’ hard this game is in 6v6 mode…. hard but fun….a bit like an ere….. never mind.
