Up (http://etf2l.org/forum/user/8960/) and I came up with the idea of grabbing 6 pub players without competitive experience from the steam forums, team them up under the guidance of Up and get them entered in Div6. Those players will relay their experiences in competitive TF2 on the steam forums in an effort to get more people familiar with the competitive scene.
For this we are looking at people who would be willing to show them the basics and help them. Up has a private server and Mumble they can use.
ETF2L X Factor, I love it
Season 8
Division 1 :
1. UKCS Match Team.
joking aside, I’d be more than happy to help with some strategies.
what would be fun though, is if a second team was made (possibly ran by Bill?) and then both the teams face each other in 3 months, to see how far they’ve come etc.
That would make it really interesting, imho.
It works, I did it with me & my clan, we still suck.
lol sounds like nG!
that said we are getting it together, the big break is when we realised that the CAP is the main target in comp TF2 and no being the highest on the scoreboard rofl

Every div 1 team should make a team and have a tournament.

THAT would be worth watching!
im free usualy now so quite willing to “help” would be interesting to see the results.
Find me in irc or add me on steam.
I’m interested but I don’t think particularly pairing people up from a public forum would work to create a stable team and an environment to build a progressing team on; it’d be best if you were to encourage friends that play publics regularly together, such as how team [cake] formed.

Done, thanks :D

There’s a lot of people there who seem hell-bent on bashing competitive at every opportunity. If I were to pick a group of friends I’d get accused of picking people I know won’t say anything negative about it.
Sounds like a fun idea and anything to popularise competitive play amongst the pub community can only be a good thing if we want the competitive scene to grow and flourish :) Good luck! :D
You know what would be insanely fun?
Get a list of like 30-60 players from the steam forums that would like to play 6v6. Randomly put them in a team (keep friends together if possible) and assign them a mentor. Let them compete in a cup and duke it out.
Create an article on resupply about it, interview some pubbers that participate. Interview some mentors etc.
