Are ETF2L still going ahead with this policy:
People who HAVE cheated in the etf2l league get banned for 1 year. (payard)
People who HAVE cheated in css get banned for 2 years. (see front page)
Is that still the case? Is that what this league is going ahead with?

Do I really have to explain this ?
People who play counterstrike should be punished double as hard than the people who are playing tf2.

I cheated at ‘one slime’ back in year 8.
The ETF2L rules regarding cheating were changed to reflect longer 2 year bans for people cheating in source games, whether it’s TF2, CSS, DOD:S etc. As far as things stand currently – If someone was to be caught cheating in TF2 now, they’d be banned as per the rules which is 2 years.
Payard cheated and was banned by the old rules which gave him a 1 year ban. It’s really not very logical to compare a ban made under a different set of rules to the rules as they exist currently.
Hopefully the rules will deter people who want to cheat in source games, as it’s sad to see those who have to further their game with artificial help rather than spending more time playing a game and gaining more skill.
From a personal perspective that has nothing to do with ETF2L, I do not think retrospective bans for people that cheated before the rules were changed should be for 2 years, whatever the game. A 1 year ban should be sufficient since that was the rule in place at the time.

So D2M, am i to assume that a) because you don’t believe in retrospective bans and b) because it is to DETER cheats, that you will go through the VAC2 bans and find out anyone who cheated under the OLD rule system, and not impose a ban on them.
Afterall, in your own words, it is not fair to ban people for breaking new rules in the past. I have a large problem with you saying that “it is not a logical comparison”. This is a logical comparison – people who were VAC2 banned over 10 months ago are in the same boat as payard who cheated 10 months ago. However payard will become unbanned in ~2 months, but the VAC2 people will not.
Also, you didn’t directly answer my question, though you hopped around it quite well.
The – now adjusted – question is this:
People who have cheated in ETF2L games 10 months ago will remain banned for 1 year.
People who have not cheated in ETF2L games but have cheated in CSS 10 months ago will now, retrospectively, be banned for 2 years.
Is that the policy which ETF2L will now enforce and continue with?

Clearly that’s not my decision to make, and thus it would be unfair of me to comment from the point of view of the league. As things stand the rules are on the front page, and clarification on these can be obtained from the League’s Head Admin team.
I stated a personal opinion, which I am perfectly entitled to do. My opinion, as I clearly noted has nothing to do with ETF2L’s stance – and therefore I am only stating my own feelings.
Perhaps instead of talking to our Admin team like we’re a group of idiots and accusing us of dodging questions, you could appreciate the fact that many of us do care about the situation and that I personally have a very similar viewpoint to yours.
I’m not here to question dodge or to split opinions about what people think the best course of action is. I commented because you brought up a topic that I feel quite strongly about and I hope that we can get it resolved. What I do object to though is the continual way that people make derogatory comments towards the whole Admin team. We volunteer our time for the league, whilst it is appreciated that everyone has their own opinion on each decision that is made, sometimes it helps to take a few moments to appreciate that everyone is human and we all want to play a game that we enjoy.
If you feel you can do a better job than the current Admin team, I’m sure your application would be welcome :)

Since there’s a new topic and no-one answered my question in mine and I don’t feel like bumping it, what’s going to happen to people new to the ETF2L scene with VAC banned accounts? Instabanned without ever knowing what they did wrong or what?

http://etf2l.org/2009/11/01/vac-bans-one-week-left/ – Previous VAC bans news post.
If the player can prove he is able to join a secure TF2 server with his account, then it’s a VAC1 ban and not VAC2. Therefore he would be fine to play in ETF2L.
A player can contact any of the Anti-Cheat team to verify that their account is fine to play HL2 engine games on.
