I doubt that one admin is holding players back to join this league… nor would it get us more stable clans, the only thing it would do is stop 2-3 people constantly whining about the same things, but that’s just my opinion >.>

This is a nice thread but there’s one thing that needs to be said.

If you want any of these things done (a ladder, lower div coverage, podcast, etc) you need to step up and do it yourself. You don’t have to be an ETF2L admin, if what you want to see is better match coverage, write it and send it to them. Don’t wait around for others to volunteer their time.i dont mind putting some time in to make things better

A little bit of initiative goes a long way.

Point taken with match reports i always do it when we play scrims for our mix team on our forums so it would not be difficult for us to do it

I would like a small betting system, with virtual money. You can bet on any result that does not include your team :) And make that betting system available for anybody, not just participants.

awesome

how about
ETF2L TRADING CARD GAME
with trading cards of the famous players and eventually of the other players on request with some interface to let the people actually play those.

I’d come rainbows

No I wouldnt but I just suddenly thought of trading cards

Shameless plug: If you’re an avid PHP-scripter with SQL-experience and some Wordpress experience, willing to put in a lot of hours of unpaid work every week just for the fuzzy feeling of it being a lot of FUN and seeing your work being used, I’m sure Day and deneusbeer would be happy to look at your skillset and gratefully accept any help you can give.

This isn’t pokemon or Betfair btw

Should do a system where if a team folds then the members from the folded teams make a mix team which replaces one of them until they find suitable clans might work in lower divisions wont work in higher cause there is no team work ect but maybe….

Or you could introduce a system like division merging say 2 teams fold from 6c and 3 teams from 6b and 2 teams from 6a then they could merge the divs making them more stable and i think the teams that finished this season should get a automatic place in to next season as there is no point in having a ladder as alot of my players are away on holiday at the moment and a ladder wouldnt show that we usually play 6 days a week as we can only play 3/4 days a week at the moment..

Hopefully we would be able to expand the divisions maybe making a division 7 and putting the lower div 6 teams and all new teams in and then work it out im sure it would only take 2/3 hours to work out how many teams are in the league and then the teams that wanted to join in the new season then try to make a div 7 based on that..

If teams fold halfway through the season its unlucky and it is always going to happen you can never be sure that there will be no teams folding no matter how many fun cups ladders or whatever you play its just the way of the game

WALL SORRY :)

Valve:
– Option to listen to a shoutcast trough the ingame browser while watching stv. Combined with the option to have ads between map changes you could have a really nice system. Players could join stv’s and open the steam overlay to access shoutcasts :)

– Stv hud where people can see information like health bars and classes of the players.
Don’t have to explain this one, would be pure awesomeness :p

– Command to allow voicechat while dead.
This would help new teams by lowering the high step from pub tf2 to comp tf2 while not touching gameplay.

Etf2l:
– Taking another look at the way the signups are handled. Promoting stability and making the process of handling signups/games better should allow more teams into etf2l while not losing quality.
Something like this should be awesome: at the start of a season open the signups for 24 hours or so. After that start placing teams that have played the previous season in the right divisions. This will ensure stability and also will make sure that teams that have played 4 seasons in etf2l wont have to stay at their computer to make sure they will be signed up.
For new teams expand the options to rate themselves(atm you have to give yourself a 1-5 rating?). Let teams rate themselves or let them select in what divs they want to play and maybe allow them add links to other leagues or even PCW’s. After that you can fill up the spots that are left from the list of new teams. So if you need 10 div3 teams you can pick teams from the teams that have rated themselves div3. So instead of rating all teams you only have to check if the team you want to add has rated itself correctly. If the team overrated itself you pick another one and the team will not be in a list of a lower div.

– Fixed map pool. A fixed map pool system will take care of the problems that a map pick system has and wont cost as much work. And at the same time it will force teams to play new maps which will help custom maps and will bring new maps to play besides granlands(since in PCW’s every team will have to prepare the same map). And imo the fun a team gains by picking goldrush(the only real advantage of map picks) does not weigh up against the annoyance it causes to the other team.

TF2 is ...

I think the key thing for the expansion of the competitive league and indeed the scene is really attracting those casual public players and turning them into more competitively aware players.

Unfortunately I have no clue how you could do this other than better advertisement of pickups, more incentives for public ‘clans’ to join leagues (???) and general awareness increases.

people need to be arsed writing stuff for cadred. and more people need to sign up and start getting involved with the tf2 coverage. was always sad to see 10/11 comments on moose’s amazing writeups, even cod4 seemed to generate more interest and its a filthy game

Spy doesnt need any more of a nerf on publics…

Edit: Also having people whine every time they die is irritating enough and it encourages you to stay alive.

Moose stopped writing for cadred months ago, shows how much you know.

New post again on the tf2 blog:

“Also, if you haven’t seen them yet, ubercharged.net is currently up to part three in a nine-part series covering how each TF2 class is used in competitive matches. It’s a fantastic read if you want to get some insight into the strategies of TF2’s most skilled players.”

“was” and “seemed” are past-tense nay? But yeah, resupply do it all and have all the writers such as moose.

FADe

Yeah past tense, hardly if any tf2 news goes up there anymore. Aye I do read resup, amazing portal for tf2 and some great pieces of work.. but its userbase is pretty low and sorta only known within the tf2 scene. A site like cadred gets 10s of 1000s of hits per day and has a much, much bigger user spectrum.
