Etf2l any ideas on how to promote the league

As noted, there are far more teams willing to play than spots available in the league. There are many reasons for this (and Day would be the right man to answer them all), but remembering Season4, where _half_ of the teams in the division we played in dropped after their first (and/or second) defeat, was just awful. We had to sit half a season and twiddle thumbs, while others had fun playing the game. Having _FUN_ is the main aspect and I can say for certain _one_ of the reasons the promotion/relegation system between S5 -> S6 looked the way it did was to _promote_ stable clans. Ladder is a good idea.
Indeed, perhaps active and stable teams who use the ladder could then be put as a priority for the next season.

Sounds like a good idea

this is it
and these people who hate the ladder won’t join it, nobody loses out.
Look at us all solving the mystery like some sort of end of episode scooby doo climax.
HIGH FIVE TEAM!
this league just needs a guy who knows how to get sponsors etc how to handle them etc
i think it is big enough for it
and if u show this to a company the right way (u need to have a clue how) whooopdeedooo
a nice manager i say :> / promoter
Promoting the league is not just about how many teams you can pack in but raising the profile of the league and the game it lives in the shadow of other fps but in terms of game play has alot more to offer .
A slick vid of latst seasons highlights would be a good start with a link on the website the guys at pwange tv and push gaming think would like to help as it would be promoting them to

Not if they’re talking of favouring teams who play in the ladder :p
There isn’t really a way to prevent teams dropping and folding as such; just to hope they do it within the first week or so :p
By the looks of it, you’re wanting to promote the game more, not the league. This league is the “centre of attention” among competitive TF2 players, you evidently just want to bring more players, in which case the idea of video highlights and “showing the game at it’s best” on sites widely viewed by all kinds of FPS gamers seems a fair idea which could have positive impact.
all of these ideas are fantastic, especially the ladder, of which would be used to give active teams a better chance, it would also make sure that this league was more stable, and would give the teams who are willing to stay in the game a much better chance!
i’d like to get resupply.eu more known amongst the whole tf2 community, and would also like to see resupply.eu provide more coverage across the whole range of divisions, even if it is just covering the top games across each group, with a small interview/statement with/from the team captains. could also include man of the match polls, with stv ips for each game?
more stv demos would be great too, others could pick up the game faster and become more interested, coverage websites like hltv.org have been huge help to cs 1.6 just due to the demo sections. (though yeah, comparing with cs is a bit silly, but realistically, more demos would promote competetive play in tf2 more.)
though, the main way of promoting this would be more tournaments and more cups with prize money, not sure whats going on with UKeSA but that seemed like our best bet so far… however, a much more successful Community LAN, a restart for that infused cup possibly? of course having etf2l involved within this, which would promote the etf2l even more as it has links with another cup holding website!
I would like a small betting system, with virtual money. You can bet on any result that does not include your team :) And make that betting system available for anybody, not just participants.
I second this! HLTV.org uses this and it seems to work well, though they do provide monthly prizes – would this be available, maybe instead use seasonal? Also, it would be very difficult to use on such a large scale, maybe limiting it to Division 1/2 matches would be good.
**cough** Morfs Frag Movie Competition **cough**
;)
Also like this idea :D

The promoter idea is good, but ETF2L isn’t a business. It’s a hobbie? The staff at ETF2L don’t get paid for their work, so who is going to break their backs to find sponsors when there’s no incentive for them?
I like the idea of ETF2L getting a promoter. However, I don’t think this idea would work because the promoter would have to be volunteering (charity work).
Another idea would be to offer an incentive, whether it be financial or something else, similar to an affiliate programme. I am sure there are people in the TF2 community who have good contacts with potential sponsors. Maybe if ETF2L offered some sort of incentive to encourage people to link the two parties, people might make more effort.
Ultimately, the fate of this organisation depends on who the owner is and what their motives are.
Example: “JohnJonesJunior” links a PC company “BobsComputerHardware.com” with ETF2L. The eventual deal secured ETF2L £5,000 worth of sponsorship for the financial year 2010/2011. ETF2L guarantee that “BobsComputerHardware.com” will be the ETF2L head sponsor, with adverts on all official demos + fragmovies, shoutouts on the ETF2L radio, news posts with new merchandise and the head sponsor banner on the web-site. “JohnJonesJunior” receives an agreed 10% (£500) for his efforts.
