Defeats the purpose.
No one would play on the regular one, and it would end up like the pickup system.
If they’re such noobs, why would they want to join a server which is so blatently gonna be a much higher skill than theyre used to?
Think a few people need to get out of there own arses and realise that its just what it is, a public server.
I signed up to get better/to play on the server. I am a “pub noob” and yet i have come top, do quite well on “your” server..
Just give more people rcon level to kick/temp ban

Medic ftw! ;)
Maybe its a good idea to have 2 servers, 1 for anyone reg’ed on etf2l and another invite/request only? Have to have played a game in a season div5 upward? Just a thaught
wasnt a guy saying hes got a free server to give away?
make one a pub for “pros” and the other for newly signed up newbies
Aye that was me. But I was meaning make it almost like a second room. Not a second skill level. If we do that we are just running yet another public server.
I will put in the time necessary for a second server if we have a trustworthy provider of an account on a stable box. One idea I had was to limit it to players who has a signup-date previous or equal to season5, then add players who actually played in s5 but signed up afterwards for some reason on request-basis (since that’d be kind of time consuming to automate and I do not think there will be a lot of administrative work).
I talked to Day about this and he agreed to give it a go, but as usual, resources are scarce. So, if anyone have a linux-box on a fat pipe and are willing to help out, give me a shout and I’ll have a look. What we are looking for is something in Central Europe, preferably holland due to their excellent peering agreements, but anything in the region is worth checking out.

Hey. Gryzor as i said in that previous thread. I have a box to run it. Its running Debian lenny, 100/100 mbit connection and bandwidth is a non-issue (2TB). Its located in south Germany.
The only problem is that im currently having to use it for my clans match server at the moment but that may change. Add me on steam if you want to talk further.
Cheers, Adam
Just make it similar to mpukpickup2 , like an invite system. A new player registers to etf2l , but if he wants to play he needs an invite from a player thats already been here for some time.
uh? uh?
And if someone missbehaves on the server , the one who invited him also gets the punishment , just to make them think twice before inviting.

It’s a publicserver, not an attempt to move into a territory F2 already does so well it’d be sad to even try. The second server has two purposes, to relieve some stress from the first one being “always full” and actually getting a bit like it was originally intended (IMHO) — okay, the second reason, not biased by my personal opinion, would be to accommodate the response in this thread. Still, the first server is a huge success by any measurable means, so shutting it down or changing it now would not be fair.
I do not think an invite-system would be a good idea, I’m not even too sure my idea of limiting it to only players of a team in any of the seasons is a good one. But it’s two suggestions, more are welcome and any other thoughts about this.
How about making people answer a 100 question quiz abotu competitive tf2 and they only get added to the whitelist if they score 98% or above?!
Or just leave it as it is.

Hehe, I get where your coming from but I do think a slightly more agressive filter is needed.
I think only people sign-up because they want to be better and it´s nice for the etf2l to get more member. The skill level goes down, but the etf2l got more advertisment. I think it´s balanced and the admins do the right decision.
As long as enough accustomed 6v6 players actually go there, the few nubs that slip through the gaps is only going to benefit the scene in the long run. I’ve never played there due to it always being full so can’t really comment on the balance, but unless it shifts dramatically in favor of sneaky nubs then what’s the problem?
