Have to agree here. He’s a young guy, and it seems like a lot of adults are losing focus of what this community and scene is about, and you’re banning a young lad for being a young lad. Josh did wrong and he knows he did wrong, he’s been punished for it and i really think the line should be drawn under the whole thing.
I think you should ask yourselves the genuine question – are you doing this for HIS own good, OUR own good, or because of a bit of a vendetta against someone who admittedly has had his ups and downs?
Let’s face it boys, and i think he won’t mind me saying this, you’ve taken the situation of a kid (at the time) swearing at you, then trying to play his favourite game anyway, and you’ve turned it into some kind of example-setting rulebook-throwing session which ends up in a young lad not able to play the game.
It’s like a football team on a local park under 16’s swears at a referee, he gets a 1 match ban, but he turns up next week and tries to play and the young players’ FA comes along going “BAN FOR LIFE SORRY LAD YOU’LL NEVER PLAY IN THIS TOWN AGAIN”
Do me the credit of not saying “there’s other leagues” and “it’s only for a year”. The analogy is to point how rediculous the whole thing is.

As an addition to this, it is if you ask me ENTIRELY embarassing that the admins on this forum have locked the thread before this one. There was no flame and no insult and no reason to lock the topic. Gryzor, i have absolutely no respect for you. You’ve already had your fingers burnt with topic locking, i think you should be a little more hesitant.
If you admins aren’t running this league of and for the people who play in it, why are you doing it at all? I severely hope it’s not for a hitler complex.
imo the redcard for “x” games played for blame + 7 month ban over every other gametype except 6v6 is nice
Josh did wrong… some sorta punishment should be in form. And the arguement of its gonna kill a team is not a valid arguement, whats next? you cheat but heck you gonna kill a team so pls dont ban him?
No i think the punishment is necessary to indicate zero tolerance towards Multiple accounts no matter who or what team.
I do think though that the lengh of the ban should be rethought since Josh did apologize and lets face it he loves the game. shorten it… :)
edit: oh and please stop with the other modes…thats bullshit nvc, you for one know it :)
I’d just like to add 2 things before this goes any further.
a) “little hitler” complex doesn’t refer to anyone being a nazi, or having been a nazi, nor do i accuse them of nazi ways. It’s a colloquialism in my portion of england that refers to people building empires for the sake of having an empire. Gaining power because it makes them feel powerful etc. — Hence if you are not running etf2l for the community members, you are running it to make yourself feel powerful by putting your thumb up or down like an emperor.
b) I am not bothered about josh playing for rawr in the 6v6 league, we expected not to have him, we even spoke about playing/not playing in etf2l. I refer only to the rediculousness of the ban, and i only made a post because NVC’s was locked.

aka ban him from everything he doesnt play? Come on, thats not a punishment… Also he tried to dodge a ban by changing his nick and buying a new account? Are you serious? Of course hes bloody banned…
Also, lol at “he apoligized so the ban should be shortened”…
It’s about dodging a ban. This case should work as a primary example of what will happen to others that will try the same. If it’s a red card for x number of games and ban from all other competition but 6on6 sounds very weak for that and in that case we might see a wave of former cheaters coming back with fake accounts not really extending their ban (at least not by much).
I locked it due to envisioning a large amount of spam and nonsense. I stand by that this would’ve been the case. I do believe this thread has a greater chance of being on-topic and useful, for the very same reason: I locked the first thread, everyone had a chat on IRC about it and then this thread was created. I still feel this subject is a non-discussion, but if you really want to drag it around another lap — go ahead.
