Well, I should add that I’m quite disappointed in div 1 teams…, I’d have expected them to jump on the occasion to cash in some prizemoney :)
I tried to motivate our ppl and created a LAN-team as well as posted on our internal forum about the topic, but motivation was low, on reasons aforementioned.
Don’t forget Ukesa was 2 weeks ago as well. It sucked up a lot of money for topteams too.
Attending twice in 2 weeks at a lan without a sponsorship is really expensive.
And not everyone feels like using 600+ Euros for traveling to lans.
There arnt enough teams in tf2 tbh to make it worth while for any lan (Except russia they seem to be able to actually organise somthing but they are a massive country). If you look at cod4/css etc at i-series theres so many uk teams it makes it worth while for the foreign top teams to travel as the top10 of prize money is actually worth somthing.
If you count how many competative uk only or dutch only clans there are to make a good base of teams at lan it dosnt really work does it as tf2 is a small game in comparison and 6v6.
So in conclusion if the prize money is only good for 1st and 2nd place, if top teams see crack/tcm/diggy going who really is going to travel and waste their money? ;)
I remember seeing this happen in many a cs/css lan event, its usually down to the time/travel/costs involved…
personally I’ve only just started playing TF2 so you’ve got no chance of me attending…saying that i will be attending the next event (if there is one!)
if people would go only for the prizemoney noone would go
this is a chance for teams to practice with the topteams for 2 days and see how they play and hence learn a lot
the date picked is also good but it’s just unfortunate the UKesa lan was planned just before community lan and teams were more focussed on that
if for example haunter and boomeh could go and YYT could be there with a full lineup and also 4kings, then Crack-clan and dignitas have had an easier time getting money to go and the event would have been a complete succes
so u can all blame haunter and boomeh
last time i checked there was a recession,
no Wonder half the players dont attend,
travel costs
accomodation
etc etc etc,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Not all of us have rich mummy’s and daddy’s to pay out our little adventures

Lol so many bad excuses. Just say you don’t care enough, it’s a lot easier.
That’s just the other side of the coin. The events could be more accessible. There’s a big difference between a free online event and one that requires plane/hotel/lan ticket booking.
edit: of course i’m not saying there isn’t a place for offline events, but don’t be surprised if a game as small as this can only get the top teams sponsored into the event…
I dunno it feels like the wrong time of year….
It’s too expensive for any student to travel that far… I really want to but I’d rather get a summer job and earn some cash

Hold on – there is 16 teams going to i37? I thought the only team going was S7?
thats kinda sad thinking its in holland. :S
Because TF2 is NOT populair in Holland, especially competitive playing. The only Dutch teams are GoT(with more teams) and WipKip. But they aren’t very serious and there are also Flemish players in the teams.
If you organise this in another country you probably get more teams! But thats just my opinion!
