16 teams for a UK i-series FUN TF2 tournament with no prizemoney
and
10 teams for TCL, an actual TF2 tournament with prizemoney
Where are you all?
3 of 9 div1 teams are going… gg :D
Three actually (FB, TCM, Cool Clan), but point is still very valid. Good to see yoyo at least making some effort though even if they can’t field their full team.
only tcm will be at tcl with a full line up ?
and there are way more UK players than dutch players
Next year if something similar happens again i think ill come :>
Cba going while im 17.

Exactly.
Well, let me put it like this: There are several reasons why teams don’t participate
1.) Costs. Prices are quite high for teams without sponsoring (which is probably most teams below div 1 and half the teams in div 1).
If you add entrance fee of 52.10 euro, accomodation of 2 x 18 euro per night if you’re willing to sleep in a sleeping bag in the mass hut, or 2 x 29 euro for a real bed and last but most expensive the travel costs (average probably around 150-200 euro per person including those who have to travel large distance by car like southern or eastern germany or travel by plane like those who come from scandinavia or eastern/southern europe), this LAN would be producing the same amount of costs as a 1-week all inclusive holiday on last minute booking :)
2.) Timing. Why put the event in midsummer when ppl have holidays and are on vacation? Why not in springtime or autumn?
3.) I recite one of my teammates: “I know at least a dozen things I’d rather do on a beautiful summer day than spend a sunny day in a dark hall with 200 sweating nerds”
Not just everyone is into LANs, and 2-3 of those per team is enough to prevent a team going to the event.
4.) Special cases: In my case, my son is scheduled to be born tomorrow, and furthermore 5th of july is my birthday, so I’ll rather spend it partying with GF and friends/family.
