[ETF2L] Should we restrict non-Latin names?

I honestly don’t see the problem.
If you’re casting a player with an unpronounceable name then just call him <team> <class> e.g. “Nice play from the RED scout.”
If you’re casting a team with a stupid name – that’s normally not a problem and can sometimes be turned into something funny depending on the caster.
If you’re just talking about some team then you would never use their name anyway normally it’s “<insert person here>’s team” or “that <country> in <div>”
Non-latin characters make team names more interesting and gives users a lot more choice and I honestly don’t get the problem with even Japanese/Chinese names. ETF2L is all about the fun, we’re not a super duper serious league with a $5 million prize pool…

You should see the drama when a questionable admin decision is made in a prem game. Heck, the div doesn’t even matter. The amounts of “lol amateur league”-esque comments are everywhere. Evidently people care about the little things.
Just saying, it doesn’t really matter how big tf2/etf2l is or isn’t, you can still strive to go on about it professionally.
Not that restricting characters in player names is going to make or break anything, but it’s a start! :D

Don´t. I hate UGC for how they do not recognize the $ and @ of my name and I end up as “GA”.
I remember when I played in season 8 hl or something over there that was not the case. They must´ve had a similiar discussion and ended up banning the $w@g@licious stuff. I know that this discussion for now is not about banning those but it would be a small step from there and I don´t see a point in restricting it.
I can transcribe Cyrillic fairly easily but other than that I do agree that non-Latin names need to be restricted.

Restrict asian/african names, but don’t restrict Greek and Cyrillic – Russia, Bulgaria, Serbia and some other european contries use Cyrillic on a normal basis.
