How big of a problem was this in the years etf2l has been running?
It’s doubtful the vast majority of the site will suffer anyway but does it matter if you’re forced to search name of someone in the team and go through there instead?

Don’t restrict greek letter’s but please restrict japanese names since they promote anime.
this
part of russia and greece is europe, why would you remove russian and greek names?
Is this the fun police striking again? What do you guys have against names?
Why not allow it with one condition, being there’s a latin part in the user/team name? would still be abale to search the said user/team abd he could promote his ‘culture’
while Isee the issue of only putting 1 latin letter, you could also restrict it to a minimum of 5 or so.
Restrict team names but leave player names. Casters could just say “team XYZ’s (insert class here) did this and went there” etc.
You would also be able to find players by just searching for their team and looking at the roster.

Keep as-is until an actual problem with such names arises, not merely because hypothetically they are hard to find (just search one of their team members instead).

On behalf of the small yet passionate Macedonian community I would say that there ought to be consideration given to those nations using Cyrillic alphabets. Although it does not impact upon me personally it does not let us use our own words and names for things and we’re as European as Germany, France or England.
The line should be drawn at nations within European borders however. No arabic, no hebrew and no moonrunes.

Restrict is good. When you get casted it would come in handy if casters could actually pronounce your name. Restricting to understandable characters ties in nicely with the nickname rules that are in effect for Prem teams.
As for dots commas and slashes etc, they shouldn’t be a big deal, so long as a name doesn’t consist of only such characters. Admin discretion can deal with that I suppose.
slashes are necessary!
but I’m for restricting as long as normal punctuation is allowed.

Casters already refer to teams with perfectly pronounceable names as “blue” and “red” so what’s the difference

Well it would still be easier to find a player by searching for his/her team, especially if everyone in that team had their names written for example with the cyrillic alphabet.
