Oh please. A week off? We had to play 4 matches in the space of about 15 days during which time the people who actually play highlander also had 2 UGC officials. What is this week off you’re referring to? Either way, there was a lot to squeeze in within a short period of time; 6 officials in just over two weeks if you’re willing to have a holistic view and accept that players into highlander are likely playing UGC.

There is disparity between how highlander is handled and how 6v6 is handled which is unfortunate. Not just with the short “weeks” and the cup, even the general league. ETF2L does highlander better than UGC but it’s only twice a year and the groups are tiny. I digress. I think it is reasonable to allow even two mercs and one wildcard, and schedule it better so it does not revolve around a 6v6 event (i49 basically).

This…this is a lie. One person, ‘Anne’! And the average number of matches played for each player in your team is about 60! Don’t be doggin’ on the small countries man, get outta here!

I am referring to Week 2, where Ireland did not have any games. Of course there are a lot of games to fit in, I’m not denying that. You had to play a game every 5 days, honestly it’s not as hard as you’re making it out to be.

ETF2L does highlander rarely due to the fact that it clashes with 6v6. I opened the feedback thread to look at the option of running more HL seasons, but people didn’t like it. Please don’t act like it’s ETF2L’s fault there are not more HL seasons.

It is not revolving around i49, it is to prevent the playoff rounds from both the HLNC and the 6V6NC from clashing, as lots of players will be involved in both. With the schedule we had, it just seemed fitting to finish it before i49 rather than have a break randomly between Quarter and Semi Finals.

Those poor lambs, having to play two officials in a week! And that’s a seven day week too…

You don’t appreciate the difficulty small counties have; this is going nowhere.

You’re resisting change as per your prerogative. All right. Thanks for listening.

Thanks for calling my co-leader a liar.

Having a small country has it’s disadvantages, but countries smaller than IE are able to compete without problems.

We’ve specifically asked for captain applications to gather the most competent players from a country that can lead it. People that know how scheduling works within a certain time frame.

Having players with other minor commitments in other leagues/formats is not a reason for us to change our format. That’s just poor planning on (both) leader(s’) side.

Yeah, Quell messaged me about that, I must not have clicked those two profiles. Sorry Quell.

Doesn’t really make a difference though, most countries have plenty of TF2 players and their leaders don’t understand what it’s like. 2/3 mercs if the other team explicitly agrees and a wildcard would help small countries out and wouldn’t affect the large countries. Leaders can come to an agreement to play a reasonable game of highlander. If Iceland or wherever wants b4nny as a merc, a huge game changer, the other team can say no. But if they want some guy in div 2 to merc which allows the game to continue, and avoid a default loss, well why the hell not? Where did all the fun go? The teams which are going to be in the finals etc. have plenty of high div players, this won’t affect the competition negatively.

Giving a default is not what brought this to my attention. I assumed the rules were the same as the normal highlander league. There was not a separate set of rules for the highlander cup from the beginning, correct me if I’m wrong, and I found it strange that the rules were different (edit:) when a new rule page was created.

Anyway, things will stay the same, I understand.

So you are suggesting to allow mercs that are not from the same country? I only just realised that. Wouldn’t that kind of destroy the purpose of a nations cup and national teams?

I’m fairly sure it’s just an example of an unrostered high div player mercing for a very low skill team, Don’t think Iceland actually has any high div players worth mentioning.
