With over 50 clans dropping last year is there anything the league can do to stop so many clans dropping out ?
Was just hoping some of the clans that have been around for a bit could say put some pointers to help clans before they join the league as it can be very unforgiving to new clans .
classes played and whats expected from each class
comitment need from players
basic tactics
when to hold and when to push
it has nothing to do with classes, its just about leadership and being able to keep a team together. if you lose one player, maybe you can replace him, if you lose 3, or 5, you might rather fold the team than look for 5 new guys.
For classes and basic tactic etc: http://www.gotfrag.com/tf2/story/43759/
But neway a lot of the new teams go into the season with high hopes and not enough practice. Then you lose a few officials and everyone goes into emomode, kick someone out, get a “better” player in. When stuff still doesn’t work kick someone else out or just fold at that point. A lot of people just don’t possess the stability to achieve long term development, they want the success now.
There’s loads of good players around without a clan cos most of them just want to get in an existing team that’s already successful. Just grow sum ballllllzzz, start a new team, begin from the bottom and work your way up. Might be slower but you’ll end up with a stable team and good friends. :)
+ 1 what ulv said…
a little over 20% of teams folded this season, it’s a very small % more than the average from all the seasons.
We’ve had discussions on how we could lower this but every option eventually leads back to the cause.
What you have said is pretty much spot on, I think the pressure new clans put on themselves to perform is just too much. Teams should spend a large majority of their time enjoying each others company and establishing the core members. Each clan in tf2 will go through a rough patch, especially when progressing between skill levels, the more “friendly” you are within the team, the higher chance of getting past the bad times!
exactly, many teams fold because they loose to much…thats just wrong! But sure, it can also be tough to find great people you like to play and talk with.
But I dont think thats an issue in the TF2 community (if you don’t play with crink..)
Getting along with your members is the key to progression and keeping a steady stable team. A lot of the time, you’re working in mini groups within a 6v6 game, be it scout duo, solly combo, scout/demo etc. If you don’t have chemistry with your partner, you won’t feel the need to back him/her up, or listen to comms etc. If a soldier is being a dick, the medic would be less inclined to to be 100% commited in backing him up.
Get along with your members, have a laugh, build a core team and then stability will follow.
most important things for new clans is to play because its fun not because you want to be e-heroes.
thats the success behind many stable clans.
Allthough sometimes folding might not be bad… some experienced players mix with other less experienced and click->>> making a new born better team wich can progress very fast.
pfft nubs, only 2 of the 50 teams were finnish, that ain’t a lot :F
quite depressing to see how few teams that are still around from season 1 :) and a few of the ones that are still “around” have completely changed roster since
also i believe you asked about basic tactics. Youll need 1 medic, 1 demoman, 2 scouts and at least one soldier, with option for a heavy, a sniper (if he’s rly good) or second soldier.
stick together, dont run off on adventures, talk to eachother, communication is vital. for more information, someone please paste the link to that guide Dunc wrote, or whatever it was.
The folding finnish teams are basically just two teams that fold and reform over and over.
well mostly just one team to that matter :p
