US + ETF2L: Is it possible?

Is it worth my time to see if I can play on/make a team that competes in ETF2L? I prefer the way that this league is set up compared to other leagues (CEVO), and would love to give it a shot. (I’m building a team, and would join next season) I could get a server in the UK, that I’d ping about ~115 to.
So, can I give it a second glance? Should I bring a US team? Should I join a team here (ping dependent)? What is a ‘playable’ ping by your standards?
Or, am I wasting my time?
Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
imo, go for it, but only if you can start the matches at “usual euro times” (19-21gmt)
That’s about 3-5 pm start time in Central US, not too bad at all. Can’t do it until 5 pm though on Mon-Wed-Fri.
-edit: That’s 9:00 PM GMT.
Thanks for the heads up.
Sure try it. the more the better! you may also have a word with oplaid from coL about pings and starting times. his team already plays in the EMS.
good luck
well, as long as both teams find the server playable, since you guys IMO dont have any rights to complain about ping etc since the league is actually called EuropeanTeamFortress2League
Indeed as long as your ok with the time difference and server pings which will be around 110 etc, i’ved played with Reptile and DL before and they awesome even with rubbish ping ;).
TF2 isn’t as ping dependant as css cod4 etc, i always used to see yankie q3 players owning the euro scene :). You may want to watch your ping to yucky scandinavian countrys though, im from the uk and get 70/80 ping.
@ tapley:
I did some ping tests (for the UK of course), and I’m getting 110 to a decent UK server.
I tried Scandinavia, and it’s about 195. This makes sense (roughly) since I get 110 to you, you get 80 to Sweden, and I get (110 + 80) ~190 there.
Where are some servers that I can use to check my ping?
Also, silly question, but what are the pickup/gathers (like how the US has tf2gather.us (sp?)) for Europe? Still using the mpuktup (sp?)? Where are the pickup servers located at?
Thanks a lot for your response, guys
#mpuktf2.pickup
Servers are multiplay and located in the UK afaik
Make a team, the more the merrier
Unfortunately, I’m not a bball player. I’ll tell my buddy who sollies that he should try this bball server.
I’m probably wind up making a mixed nation team/ joining, since a lot of US players are worried about the ping.
Another stupid question: do people start heavies/pyros? In the US they are sometimes viewed as a desperation/strange option.
