I’m sure that clip is much more about Santa than it is about you.

indeed it was meant to be that way
I am still impressed everytime I see a rocket jumping pyro, the main reason I recorded that.

The thing I remembered most of that mix was how hard my hand connected to my face. Great shot btw!

Bah! I will probably never get to be a part of the Swedish Highlander team. TheSucker doesn’t reply to any of my chat messages on steam.

If he just gives me a chance to prove that I am worthy, I assure I won’t be a disappointment.

Try get a hold of him on IRC, maybe go under a different name at first so he doesn’t auto ignore.
He’s pro at being idle though so one can never be sure he’s actually online/by the computer.

Yeah, do that if you want him to ignore you even more.

Actually santa, based on this thread and what I have seen on public servers, you seems to be both annoying and a bad pyro, stop bothering TheSucker and do something constructive with your spare time instead.

You judge my skill based on how I play public games? Well sorry for not being a try-hard merciless pub-stomper. But you do have some wise words though. I have been bothering TheSucker, but think the situation from MY perspective. There is nothing I want more in TF2 to become a part of the national team and represent my country. So, I have been practising, mixing and playing pcw every day with claws and fangs determined that I will be the best pyro ever.

My dream has been taken away now, not because I am bad, but because that I wanted this so much that I forgot to be polite. I have been noisy and annoying but I learnt my lesson.

For the next nations cup, I will be prepared to stand and grab my so desired goal.

But just before I go “underground” and silently work my way up to glory, I will give you one last reminder of who you are dealing with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krzE8jWeYSg

With this, I leave you in peace and wish all of you good luck for highlander season 3.

Best regards

Very rude and patronising attitude, I honestly expected better from you. I’ve not reflected upon Santa’s skill level, but I’ve played with him much so I would’ve noticed if he is as you say, a bad pyro. Especially since I play heavy a lot. Apparently you can draw the conclusion that he is a bad pyro based on pubs, which are radically different from organised highlander, both in style and commitment (I’m at least not that serious when I play on pubs, compared to when I’m playing highlander or 6v6).

But actually, this is not about Santa. TheSucker assignment is to represent Sweden, not himself. If he isn’t willing to communicate with the Swedish community, and isn’t willing to test out different players (even if they are commited and serious, like Santa), then I don’t think he should represent Sweden. If he wants to play with his friends, he should form his own team and play in a regular season. Note that I did NOT say that TheSucker is a bad captain (after all, he has not been tried yet), I am just addressing the notion that players shouldn’t talk to the ones that represent them.

It’s good that you want to improve and become a top player, but this whole thing seems like an obsession to me.

> The nations cup is announced.
> You quickly decide that you wish to become “the best pyro Sweden has ever known”, like you’re a Pokémon trainer or something.
> You publicly announce this goal, trying to prove how committed and dedicated you are, and that you have gone “all-in”.
> One month later (!), you’ve apparently become good enough, so you repeatedly contact the Swedish captain for tryouts.

That’s not how it works. Take a step back and give yourself a chance to think rationally.

Here are a few tips:

– Don’t expect a busy team captain to organize matches so that some regular, unknown player can prove himself over people who have been established at the top scene for up to two years. National teams typically just pick players from the top scene, sometimes based off gameplay demos from top teams. Don’t expect them to do much more than that; it isn’t worth their time.

– Don’t talk about it. The more you talk about playing for Sweden, the more it seems like you’re obsessed with the idea. Especially with statements like “there is nothing I want more in TF2” and “my dream has been taken away now”. If you were in TheSucker’s shoes, would you be thinking “This guy seems really dedicated and he must be pretty good, I should take my time to give him a chance” or would you think “This random guy is spamming me because he’s absolutely obsessed with the prestige of playing for a national team”? Try to come off as experienced and confident with a reputation that precedes you, rather than obsessed and disillusioned.

– Have patience. Anyone can be committed and enthusiastic if they plan on reaching their goal within a month. It takes real dedication and passion to stay at something for months and years. The fact that you have been practicing for a few weeks (just like everyone else) is not a feat, and it doesn’t work to your advantage. On the contrary, your impatience and talking shows to me that you are more focused on the goal itself, rather than everything involved in actually reaching that goal, however long it may take.

I think those are some things that you have yet to realize.

Your latest post is contradictory in itself: You say that you have learnt your lesson, yet you further cement your obsession with representing your nation, and you finish it off with a frag clip and statements like “silently work my way up to glory” and “one last reminder of who you are dealing with”. This isn’t Batman. Even if it were intended as self-deprecation, that stuff just makes you look ridiculous. Keep your head down, keep improving, reach the highest division(s) and stay there. Don’t blame anyone — not even yourself — for not getting picked this time, on such a short notice. Aim for the next one instead.
