Point Allocations

So I’m trawling through the league tables because I have nothing better to do in between classes and after watching the Infused – Dignitas game last night, something really confused me, the presence of a draw column.
First of all, the golden cap rule seems kinda ridiculous to me. If it’s a league then surely it should go like any other league table and the results should be Win-Draw-Loss without a golden cap ever needed to be done? If there’s any special reason this is done it’d be cool to find out what it is.
Secondly, If the golden cap rule is in place for whatever reason it is, then what’s the point in having a draw column? If someone wins the golden cap then they’ve won that map, so the only result that can ever come out of a ETF2L game is a win or loss? There shouldn’t really be any different point allocations just because a team one it on a golden cap and not in the first 30 minutes.
Anyway if someone could clear this up for me, that’d be sound.

[14:48] Nostalgia what?
[14:48] an etf2l match = 2 maps played
[14:49] draw = one teams wins one map, the other team wins the other
I think you’re confusing map results with match results.
A match can end in a draw, a map cannot.

When the rules changed last year it did make the draw column rather redundant. I think we did discuss it briefly at the start of last summer in the Admin team. I wanted to see W | GC | L (Win, Golden Cap, Loss) since draws obviously aren’t possible under the ruleset.
Just needs someone to action that really, unless they change the rules again!
Edit: Or possibly W | GCW | GCL | L (since losing the GC still gets you a point so it would make sense to have a column for that)

Hmm o yeah I was being a bit quick to jump to conclusions… The result columns count map results, not match results, so you’re right indeed.

Golden Cap result is (almost) equal to a Draw result; the only difference is that, when you win the GC, you get an extra point (what I’m trying to say is that the tables are still correct – your game did end in a draw!)
Not sure how/if this is related but I wanted to post something :D

remove gc at all
The tables count maps played. A few seasons back we changed to a league format with golden caps instead of draws for any map. The scoring system was altered accordingly. The tables, not so much. Yes, one of the above suggestions (remove the column and possibly add GC win/loss columns) would’ve been better, but I didn’t do that at the time, sorry. That part of the codebase is pretty scary. :0
So, as you’ve read, we changed away from draws a while back. Iirc, it was a well met change.
I like golden cap, both as a player and spectator. Takes nothing away from a match but can add a whole load of excitement and tension.
Would be nice to have updated tables with GCW and GCL columns, but it’s really not a big deal.
Imo, we should change the Golden Cap rule so that winning it awards you 3 points no matter what.
The 1 or 2 points rule is just confusing.
