Enlighten us please, because I’m not aware of how you could find out.

Edit: It might’ve looked like this post was meant to sound like a douche comment, but I honestly have no clue :D

Yes lets find out how people are detected from having second accounts, like they wont read this and take notes or anything :p

They found out that he had a 2nd account rather quickly, in our case it took them over a year :D.

Fair enough (wasn’t asking it for that reason btw), but living in a country where we work with dynamic ip’s, multiple pc’s and the possibility to create as many e-mail adresses as you would ever want, I’m not seeing how that would be possible, that’s why I was wondering.

Unless of course, you get the ip, look up which ISP the ip belongs to, and, check with the whether the the user of the ip of back when he was caught cheating was the same as the person you suspect, but I know ISP’s aren’t allowed to hand out that information without a warrant, and even though TF2 is serious business, I doubt it will be enough :D

Have to agree with what Bill said mate. :(

I know everyone in Dakka are a bunch of totally ace guys, but there’s plenty of other teams who full well knew their banned player was breaking the rules, and they shouldn’t get off with it.

To be honest, it’s quite obvious if you’re halfway intelligent anyway. :P

Might be possible if it’s just 1 match, but if it’s like this case near the end of the season you’re basically asking them to replay most of/an entire season. Not viable, unfortunately.

the fact is, that you can’t possibly know that a cheater got a new account.

I’m guessing you don’t know about IP pooling and ‘within a reasonable doubt’ CIDR ranges

In the flemish part of Belgium, IP pools are only existing when it comes to fixed IP’s, so it’s quite hard to have just the luck of getting the same person to play with the same IP throughout an entire period.
And when there are dynamic IP’s, I don’t get how CIDR would be useful? :/ I mean, it’s basically an entirely new address already.

Neither is a foolproof mechanism. There are other (better) mechanisms which I assume ETF2L is already using, or maybe they aren’t. If you want to know what they are, contact me on IRC in #christf2, I don’t want cheaters that may exploit the knowledge knowing about them.

imo a player is legit until otherwise proved. so no defaults for games where the hacker has played. he/she just doesn’t play for the next year.

They got their points, until it was proven that he was a hacker?
