Also can people please stop being so thick as to think every team that is below your own level only plays for fun and not so much to win?
if you’re so smart come up with a solution that works for the whole league please

Which is equally selfish as dropping from the league and potentially taking away points other teams had gotten by defeating you!
There’s nothing selfish about that. Taking away the points is fair to the remaining teams in the division.

Re-read my post please, I said they play for fun first and winning second. I didn’t say they only play for fun.
And I’m sure I’m far from the only one when I say I will not stay with a failing team to finish the season just for the sake of finishing the season. I don’t mind losing as long as I’m having fun, but there’s absolutely no fun in that and it’s time wasted I could spend having fun with a different team.

I’m not gonna continue doing something I despise just so you can keep your points. In fact, continuing when you know you’re gonna lose all matches is unfair in itself since you’re effectively defaulting every match to the enemy, putting people who dropped points to you at a disadvantage.

This already exists doesn’t it? I know alot of clanhoppers often get called out for it on recruitment posts.

this is such a stupid discussion
Thank god for your reply then!
But people pick them up, there are a few expections but this is in the case of them being dicks in most cases. Of course if you know that they dropped for a lemitamte reason you might consider picking one or two of them up, but people need to get it in their head that is a big thing to fold a team and 50 teams.
All you have to do is not sign up in the first place, if you are not stable or struggle through to the end of the season, use mercs if you have to, I am telling you now that LTG would allow them if it meant that they would have dropped instead.
Here’s a scenario. I’m gonna use actual teams in my actual division for realism sakes, this is the only reason.
.:ne:.BLU drew a map with a team that SFF beat 6-0
Let’s say the team we drew with, who SFF beat on both maps, were our bestest friends in the whole of the world and they had nothing to play for this season now.
If they were to drop, our draw would be cancelled out, thus effectively giving us the dropped points back. So we have a quiet word with our buddies and they quietly drop, we get the draw wiped out and end the season with 2 more points than we should have had, pushing another team into 3rd or 4th.
We benefit, the other team are punished and yet it wasn’t their fault, we just exploited the system to our advantage. Fair? No, ofc not.
Is not being able to play officials for 2 weeks fair if the team fell apart around you? Maybe not, but lots of things in life aren’t fair.

Re-read my post please, I said “people”, not “Buffalo Bill”.

Cool, I just went from “retarded” to “so smart”! Thanks :D
Anyway, many potential solutions have been suggested in this and other threads, but there are always a bunch of people whining about how unfair it would be. As if the current system is perfectly fair!
I never claimed my ideas/suggestions to be perfect (or viable for that matter). Doesn’t stop me discussing, though.

And if they had kept playing they’d be giving everybody else 6 points except you, putting you 3 points down. Goes both ways.
“Lots of things in life aren’t fair” -> goes both ways.
Not many teams lose every match in a season 6-0, mercs, roster problems or not!

Your example is true Monkeh, that would not be fair.
But then look at rule 1.5:
1.5 Dropped teams’ results will be deleted if they play less than 75%
So if a team has nothing to play for anymore, near the end of a season, result’s won’t get removed, effectively negating the situation you described.
There are always pros and cons, but i believe dropping results according to this rule is the best way.
Also i might add: your scenario is just highly unlikely. for every one time that will happen, there will be 100 others where teams fold for other reasons. (if not more). Of course, if admins find out about such an agreement, the teams involved will be punished. But finding out such a thing would be hard if not impossible.
You could also claim that you should get points in the league for beating high level opponents in PCWs. Losing a league for having bad luck in officials when you could do better is “unfair”, just like losing a league because of folded teams. It’s just impossible to control this so therefore the only option is to ignore PCWs from the league.
The same thing applies to playing against teams that eventually fold. Matches that aren’t played in the league or with a team that’s in the league (folded or just simply not signed up) should have no effect.
This thing is completely separate from the case of whether a team should fold or not. A folded team actually doesn’t affect the fairness of the division at all. In a nutshell, if you can only get points from teams that fold, you shouldn’t win the league anyway.
