you kicked me :(
Word on the street has it that you were overskilled
Stability is overrated. If you play in a bad clan, want to become better and have no hope of getting better games, you should leave the team / fold. Sure, there’s people who don’t even try to get along with others, but that’s just a personal issue, not a league issue.

Not everything becomes clear within 2 months. Sometimes you don’t encounter instability/incompatibility until much later.
You will never stop teams folding, but you have to explore ways to minimise the folding.
At the very top teams folding is not a big issue only 10% of teams in the top 3 divisions folded (premier – div 1 and div 2)
but from div 3 down it is a much bigger problem, and there is less of an argument of not enough players for recruitment as well.
You have ruled out punishment, so let us discuss rewarding stability, and improving stability in the league

Hmm… Why would that be? Oh right, cause there are more players in the lower divs!!! (also, more players that don’t directly play to WIN, so they care more about having fun with a team than performance etc etc… so many arguments are connected to this)
You can recruit people from lower divs, but the truth is that players who will directly fit in are very rare. In my team for instance, I recruited a div6 scout. He had the aim, and the ability to pick up things quickly, but he didn’t even realise the dedication needed to keep playing at a certain level, so after a while he couldn’t be arsed anymore, and left us to become a rape-allround-backup player for a div6 team.
Oh, wait, that’s exactly what you guys didn’t want, right? Recruiting players from lower divs is yet another liability.
None of that suggests or proves that lower divs can not possibly include players that could potentially fit in your team or sit on your roster as backup in case your core players evaporate from the game.
Point being, there are plenty of players on ETF2L. If you have to finish the season with players you’re definitely going to lose your games with, well, at least you’re finishing the season.

I didn’t say it was impossible, I just said that those kind of players are rare. It’s all about risk management. More of this @ “seemingly warped skill” thread.
Ninja edited for you :p

It can still filter out a bunch of cases.
But not all of them, and you wouldn’t solve the problem.

Maybe you missed my point.
Should TF2 be 3v3 because there aren’t enough people to form 10 premiership teams? There are always divs below your own you can recruit people from.
And recruiting below your Div means you’re gonna lose a LOT of points most of the time. In the lower Divs people play for fun first and winning 2nd or 3rd, which means that isn’t a problem. In the higher Divs people play for fun and winning first, making that a big problem.

Only percentage-wise is it a minor issue. With the far smaller pool of available and capable players available it’s a pretty big issue. In the lower Divs, where the vast majority of comp players resides, it’s the lesser issue since there’s plenty of candidates around to recruit.

Also can people please stop being so thick as to think every team that is below your own level only plays for fun and not so much to win?

It’s funny that this is exactly the same discussion as the last time. And I’m willing to wager that this same discussion will be had after S9 is over.
If you have to finish the season with players you’re definitely going to lose your games with, well, at least you’re finishing the season.
And you’ll also completely destroy any sense of fun. If you are 100% sure you are going to lose, do you think you’ll be able to convince your team to play?

Wow I just went to my physics class and it is already 4 pages long.
Anyways, I think I thought of a reason for the intial information. Before I start I should point out that it was never my intention to make this thread about how to stop drops, was just presenting information, but now I come to think of it make the punishment a social one, records show this is by the far the msot effective form of punishment.
Make sure everyone looks down on those who fold, espically new teams, the social shunning does wonders event to someone like me, who you know, lives on the internet and so does not have any friends. If the etf2l community has a negitive view and this is made known, not only on the forums, but elsewhere it might help reduce the number from 50 to 30, because we all are here to play a fun game, officals provide the most fun as they are tense and competive and that is what competive gaming is about. If somone in your Div drops, you are unable to play all the maps equally, which seems unfair if you enjoy a certain map.
Also LTG plays to win:

Seppuku.
Which is equally selfish as dropping from the league and potentially taking away points other teams had gotten by defeating you!
