When UK teams can’t play at 20:00 and Russian teams can’t play at 21:00, then 20:30 is the only option.
Not really. 21:00 cet is the only option. Because playing late is always possible, while playing early isn’t because people are simply not home on time. In addition 20:30 fucks up the entire standard schedule of 2 games 4 maps a night.
Why couldnt the match be scheduled a week later at the same time?

tbh u guys deserved that default loss for not being able to arrange the match before the deadline ( + not leaving anything @ the match comments).
you’ve got to be kidding me.
Not setting up a match date or write some stuff at the match page happened like a billion times before to a billion of teams and all the teams got the chance to play a default game. So tell me please why are WE the ONE team that deserve a default loss for it?
And to be honest: Setting up a default date 6 hours before it starts IS a default loss.
and once again:
This has nothing to do with the time the etf2l admins spend. i really honor that. i know it is a fucking job to handle a community. i was admin of bunch of them and usually we do care about our match dates. There were some unexpected issues in our clan, what caused some chaos, but thats not the point.

if ur not happy with the admins work u better should become one and do something usefull instead of whining
But the other team failed to schedule the match before the deadline as well, so by your logic both teams deserve the default loss. Seems odd.
what is this shit? since when is this topic about specific times? why do admins reply to this issue but not to the one this thread is about? no one willing to admit they made a mistake?
this is just ridiculuous.

Read the previous pages there are enough useful responses.
You can scream 6 hours all you want, but it took the team more then 24 hours to even respond to the default date.

So to clarify, Team leaders should have match pages on constant refresh, have the email account used for etf2l open and on refresh 24/7
Common sense is required, regardless of what and how this clan in question or any other clan acts or acted 6 hours notice for a match is ridiculous.
no one would think worse of the admin team (you’d probably gain respect), if they said we made a mistake and we’ll allow team A to wild card this game. Rather than the we made a decision (mistake) and we’ll do nothing about it

you can not be serious.

…6 hours notice for a match is ridiculous.
Default date was decided at 2pm. Let’s say the whole team were in work/school. Utterly ridiculous to schedule a default for 6 hours after the post, seriously.
Let them wildcard it ffs, common sense FTW!
Also, learn to ‘match-page’ in the future!
You’re missing the point. I’ve already said the date could have been set better. But since the team in question didn’t react for over 24 hours to the default date (and by then there was only 1 regular playday left before the match deadline) it is quite obvious that the bad handling of scheduling by the team was the cause of this problem, not the (bad) default date.
So yes, we’re always looking at how we can set default dates. The amount of default dates has always been increasing hence why getting a proper system for them is harder, checking the schedule history and player location for both teams in a unscheduled match is not feasible anymore with over 100 unscheduled matches (not counting highlander and other tournaments). Usually default dates won’t be set on a Monday / Tuesday (assuming they are set on Monday, making it about 24-48 hours). The situation in that week was slightly different with the workload I described before (the amount of teams not scheduling matches in the first weeks of a season was absurd). A new thing we are looking at is setting the standard default date for div3 and higher to 21:15. The 20:30 works out very well for the majority of the teams, but higher skilled teams seem to have a slightly different schedule. For which top divisions this is true and for how many teams in them is not fully clear yet, but looked at.

Not here to judge, but this is a good quote nonetheless.

If they had wild carded this game when would they have to play it by? TBH you have not covered yourself (the admin team) in any glory, yes it was bad handling by the team, but you could have allowed them to use the wild card as soon as they noticed (which was the following day), they even said they were available to play on the Sunday (before the week deadline).
A previous admin said the game could still have been played if the other team agreed (you seriously believe a team will give away 6 points if they have the choice)
Even if you decide to stick to your decision (for what ever reason). What safe guards are you putting in place, to make sure games are never EVER giving a default time and date with such a short notice period?
*edit*
lets paint a picture, say only 1 member of the team checks etf2l (i don’t know if that is the case) he/she comes home from work, gets changed goes out to eat/see a film/have a real life, and doesn’t check his emails or even consider visiting ETF2L.org, he knew last night he didn’t have a match.
He gets in the following day to a default loss, which he could do nothing about, he contacts the admin team..
