Open Challenges Problem

So I’ve got a problem with my recently-issued open challenge on the Highlander Ladder and apparently, from what I’ve read occasionally on these forums, others have had the same problem. I don’t know how widespread it is, so I don’t know how big a matter it really is.
When I put in the time & date into the open challenge I issued, it was because this was the best time for my team this week to actually play, and I was hoping that a team that accepted it would agree to those times. The team who accepted it then stated they did not want to play at that time and suggested times on different days!
My initial reaction was to try and get the challenge deleted, but I did issue an open challenge and I’m not one to back down. But I’ve seen others have had issues where teams accept open challenges and then immediately try to post-pone them.
Isn’t the point of an open challenge to find an opponent who can fit in a match in the time specified, without having to search through all the teams until you find one that can? Granted, asking to delay it an hour or so is fair game, but suggesting different dates? Seems like that’s missing the whole point of the open challenge. :
Teams will have to play on the date and time of the open challenge. They can’t demand a reschedule, although you can accept one if you want.
We had a similar problem as well. Opened a challenge for 21:00 and the team wish to move it back five hours beforehand and could not do the original time at all.
Thankfully, the team were willing to move back to that hour. Although it does annoy me that teams are accepting challenges at times/dates they know they can’t do and ask for a major reschedule. :-|
RaCio, if a team is “unwilling”, so to speak, to move from their proposed time set in the original open challenge what will happened to the fixture? Will the admins just delete the fixture upon request (from both teams) or will it be a default win to the acceptors of the challenge? :-S
Yeah, this doesn’t make much sense to me. If we offer a game at a certain time and they accept it and then they attempt to reschedule, and we can’t make it, they win? This is especially problematic if a EU team accepts a NA teams open challenge, and then try to reschedule to a time where half the NA team is already sleeping…and vice versa.
I think if a accepts a challenge, and they attempt to reschedule, if they can’t find a time hat both teams can agree on, it should just be squashed, or the challenging team gets the loss. Its not fair to a team who just put out a challenge on their time terms, and get it changed to a time that doesn’t work for them, its auto-win. This would discourage teams accepting challenges that they can’t fulfill time wise.
We do this in our free time between work/school/and even both. If we put out an open challenge for a certain time, it means everything is 100% ok on our end, don’t accept a challenge if you can’t make it 100% on your own end.
