Hello Guys.
I’m new to competitive TF2, and i signed up for the highlander tournament.
I was wondering what would happen if a team from USA got drawn against a team from europe for example? The ping is bound to be messed up for someone somehow, and it will be unplayable. What do one do if they wind up in a situation like that?

It depends. If they are hot female tf2 players, exchange numbers.

If they’re from further west, play on a NY server. Equally shit pings for everyone.
If they’re from the east coast, determine server by lot.
That’s how I’d handle it.
Well wouldn’t it be an idea to create an American league, european league and such? :) If we play with 100+ ping it kinda ruins the experience.

My opinion on excessive ping:
I think there should be either a solution for the pings (maybe ETF2L hosted servers that aren’t located in europe itself, but just outside it, so the pings of the american players are lowered from 130 – 100 to 80 maybe, same for people in the siberian part of Russia, because it really really annoys me at times how easy they get headshots when going sniper with their ping while they are practically untouchable), or maybe make subdivisions, so the ping differences there aren’t that big.
If that’s not possible, I think it’ll either be “suck it up” or getting rid of the players. The second option wouldn’t be fair though, since everyone deserves a chance to play.

There are numerous American leagues, CEVO being the most important one. Matches between American and European teams rarely happen.
Ok :) Thats good to hear. Just a little worried about the highlander cup. Maybe they will split them up by country, so they avoid ping issues.

Or maybe the american teams will just have to deal with the ping. :)
thats a bit harsh isn’t it? :) but yes, i can see it being an issue, since the match wouldn’t be fair for either of the teams.

Dealing with euro ping since 09′.
If you are East, it’s not that hard to adapt uk/nl servers. I suggest to better play on a uk server, as it’s the best choice. On the other side, if you want to play on an US server, just choose New York/Chicago.
