It would still fail to work in this sence, if only div 6 teams and new teams are present.
As alot of the ‘NEW’ teams are more than capable of beating div 4 teams, and would still end up in Div 6 come league season, roll a div 6 (wasting their time, and everyone elses) then spend the next season rolling division 5, or just dropping as it is pointless.
One of ETF2L’s big problem is that teams in div 6 are better than some in div 4, and some in Div 5 are better than some in Div 4 etc, i’m sure teams in Div 4 are better than some in Div 3.
Perhaps it would be better (this will not happen ever) to hold off season 8, with more mis matched and unstable teams.
Run a 330 team ladder (seeding 70 teams div 1 – 3, increasing their entry elo, as above) for 3 months record every result available, teams that drop within that 3 months are not allowed to enter the up coming league season (so only stable teams enter) the remaining teams after 3 months are seeded according to their final positions. And in theory we should have a season where teams are almost entirly in divisions where they should be.
but as I said this will not happen, so some fix is needed to the current system
Worst idea E.V.E.R.
Entry ladder would be cool but don’t force teams that don’t want to play in a shitty ladder to join it.

Read all the previous posts… as I said this wont happen, and the teams that don’t like playing tf2 wouldn’t have to play extra games

teams that don’t like playing tf2
What are they doing here anyway?

guess you’ll need to ask the teams that want more from playing less
I think you didn’t get the point.
High teams don’t want to enter because they don’t want to play shit games that would end up in 5/0 rolls. This has nothing to do with the fact they want to play less.
Most teams in div1/2 are quite active.

Have you read the previous pages? If so you have failed to understand a thing, If you havn’t that explains alot, either way I will not be wasting anymore time replying to you
I read them.
I just don’t agree with you.
Like Jaks said, i don’t understand why you want to keep the ladder alive (for higher teams) in the first place.
It’s just a shitty format…
PS: if i have failed to understand something, please feel free to explain again.
Cool, I did Biology for uni, always used to touch those things.
OT: Tik means that higher div teams will start at higher rating, so they won’t need to play vs lower teams. Basically div 1 teams start at 1300 rating while div 6 teams start at 700, so they don’t have to face each other. I think that’s what he means.
Also, I posted a massive wall of text but no-one’s said anything about it :(

Thing is, div1 teams would still have to play div3-bottom div2 teams quite a lot. It’s usually no fun for either of them.
I think that’s true.
From my experience, there is already a clear skill gap between top div2 teams and bottom div2 ones.
Making the ladder count as much as the league would results in tons of uninteresting games for div1 teams even if they got some kind of top seeding.
That’s why i don’t really see the point of a ladder when we already have a pretty exciting league.
Yes, it will happen for the first few weeks, but after a few games everyone should be in the right place. Ladder rewards skill directly, so if a low rated div 6 team beats a mid rated div 4 team, they get the appropriate reward (they will get a high rating).
The good thing about the ladder is where you stand is directly affected by how well you do. This is the main selling point, teams naturally end up where their skill is. Right now, if a div 6 team is actually div 4 skill, they can’t show it for at least 2 seasons. In a ladder, they will be placed automatically at their level after a few games.
You shouldn’t have to accept challenges from teams obviously much lower in skill either, so div 1 teams won’t have to accept challenges from div 3 teams. And well, if a div 3 team practices hard and can beat a div 2 team, don’t they deserve a chance to show it officially?
Still, with my suggestions you get the best of both worlds imo.
Shouldn’t it be that you can only challenge teams up to 3 or 5 places above you and you get seeded in terms of division so div 1 teams will only play other div 1 teams or high div 2, high div 2 only div 1 and low div 2 and so on down the divisions.
Takes longer to get higher up the ladder but you have to actually play vs tough teams to get higher rather than just challenging all the new div 6 teams who join the ladder which is what we did.
Regarding new teams they should be assessed when they join to see whereabouts they go. Might be time consuming of course for an already overworked admin team but perhaps Tickus would help?
