Wildcard system - Time for a change?

So, tonight we were supposed to play our leaguegame at 8pm CET against team “Good at Last”. Pretty much all looking forward to it, we had cancelled all of our friday night plans (Shit, who the fuck arranges a game on friday anyway? Well, we didn’t really have a choise, and both teams agreed so why not?) Anyway, us being on the server at 7.45pm, all excited about our first game, our opponents threw in their wildcard because they needed a merc, someone had a “700” ping and one of them was “playing on a laptop, on the floor with his mouse on his knee”. We were kinda pissed off by this, but anyhow, we carried on with some daily pcw’s. A few hours later we went on here, just checking out the forums until I stumbled upon a recruitment post from “HaKo” (the teamleader of team Good at Last), the same guy who had decided with his team to wildcard it. This pissed us off even more.
I contacted an admin on #etf2l to ask if there was anything we could do about it, a deffault win perhaps? The answer was: “No I’m sorry, there’s nothing we can do, a team is allowed to throw in a wildcard 15 minutes before the game.”
Ok fair enough, rules are rules.
Anyway I do not agree with those rules in a situation like this one, they (good at last) basically ruined our entire night by wildcarding the game. Isn’t there any way that this system can be changed? For example: A wildcard can be used only 1 day in advance. So that people can not wildcard a game and fuck up your evening 15 minutes before your game is supposed to be played??
I don’t know if there’s ever been a topic like this one, either way I would like to see this discussed.
I made this topic because we really felt us “used” and we were quite pissed off by this.

Me and Risky were leaders mate. We had 3 players. This is what Wildcard system is for. Don’t really see what you’re so mad about. Can you not just go play a ladder/pcw/mix. I doubt I’ve ruined your life that much for you too go through all this effort to change a rule that is perfectly fine.
In all seriousness though i do feel 15 mins is a bit short.
Say it was 1 hour, what difference would it make, you would have still cancelled your plans. It’s not like we were forcing you too play on a Friday night. From what I can remember, you proposed the date, and if you didn’t, you accepted it. So surely if you made plans anyway, that was your own mistake.

A while ago the wildcard system was changed, what your explaining is a large reason why it was changed. If the old system was in place they would have to default and would noone would really be happy with it. Also if you went on after with your usual PCW’s how was your night ruined?
The rule is fine, you were going to spend the rest of your night pcwing and doing other things, you could have also wild carded if your plans on a friday night mattered so much.

Because we wouldn’t have cancelled our plans if we knew it was gonna be a regular pcw night.

I believe the real (and far more significant) problem is that you felt playing a video game was more important than your friday night plans.
