**Caution Wall “O” Text**
I have been looking to do somthing similar to this for awhile now, The idea first took place as a text based tutorial however I found it too boring for the reader, due to length and my lack of pacing.
The idea of a video for the basic’s of competitive tf2 sounded like a more viable alternitive but due to a lack of video editing skills and time I haven’t really persued the idea. However I am happy to contribute to this project if help is required.
My idea at first was to do a series of video’s similer to the tf2tactics video’s found on youtube (The one’s with the fancy titles that are very well made) however instead of public focused or mechanic based video’s I would use each video as a very basic overview of a class’s role in the competitive scene,Much like the tutorials found on ubercharged.net.
After the 5 basic overview video’s there could be a possibility to have a set of 5 follow up video’s that go more in-depth on a class. For a total of 11 video’s over the course of a year (Or less depending on time constraints.)
The series could include: 1 Introduction video, 8 Class videos, 2 utility videos
The introduction could include basic overview of teamwork, calling ect, The class video’s for scout, solly, demo and medic would include situations they are involved in and the Utility video’s would outline situations for when a heavy, sniper, spy and pyro are usefull.
Followed by a set of 6 video’s that last longer and go more in-depth about the topic.

Hmm..
I would not make a section with all kinds of different movies and mathematically strategy’s and such. That would scare someone. If you want someone that is new, to be interested, take him/her on a walkthough:
1. Starting a match, tournament mode, 6vs6 and picking classes
2. Doing a rollout with your team to reach mid as fast as possible. Show a demo of a rollout
3. Pushing and defending points, with some light ingame tips: protect the medic, work with the other scout etc.
4. Communication, put in a voicecom recording in the background of the demo/vid to let the person hear what is going on on mumble.
5. Where can I start? Post tube video of someone starting up a lobby and entering the game.
Finished.
Those are the basics I think for someone new to competitive tf2. Not much information, but thats all whats needed imo. If you are new and wanna start competitive gaming, what use is there for strategy’s, using crit or normal uber, faking ubers etc etc?
the idea is not bad… gonna be buncha stuff to explain tho
moreover, it might be risky because every match and situation is different and you learn how to manage yourself through experience… you can use some tips for some timings or positions but teaching gamesense through youtube videos might be hard or counterproductive.
it must be said that almost every game has at least one big fan providing commentaries and explainations on youtube (search HD starcraft for both sc and sc2 examples of this) so it would be like… video of a scout standing still staring at the textures and then a text explaining that “the scout is listening to his sorroundings and waiting for the right moment to push with the rest of the team, preventing a back-cap at the same time”… kinda zzz
All important links and info, like TF2 lobby will be linked into the descriptions etc. And many other usefull resources.
The videos are mainly for class basics and what to expect and to do in 6v6.
Think of the video channel as a hub where you are also redirected to various other useful tools of information e.g. fpsconfig sites, links to usefull huds, configs etc.
I have almost finished the list of episodes already, hoping to try and get one out as quick as possible just for starters.
There will (hopefully) be a longer video giving out tips of calling, communication, pushing, and more things that are more focused as a team, the first videos will look at classes and techniques individually, as they are quicker to make, however if the resources are there for me to do a more team based video quickly I will do that asap as that is deemed more important.
Of course we are still going through some ideas as to how to present this.
I will setup an irc channel soon, add me on steam or post here for some suggestions.

No, I’m hoping some people will volounteer, but I will start looking for people once I have a solid plan etc., I can render and edit some stuff myself but I have some people to help me with needed footage.
I have WildCard who is helping me through the process and getting some people willing to contribute, I’ve started to get some demonstration footage now, I’m awaiting on an intro before I start getting down to srs bsns.
Anyone that is interested in lendin’ a hand add me on steam or find me in #tf2tutorials
Thaaaanks :D
another thing i noticed, is theres quite a few resources for the absolute beginner like those guides on ubercharged or gotfrag, but theres not much in the way of improving once your low-mid etc.
if your interested in covering this stuff also, i wrote a few things for my clan here: http://kumadaboss.wordpress.com/
if you feel you want to use this stuff for videos or if anyone wants to contribute content or w/e, hit me up
