I like the shorter 30 minute maps, it makes coverage easier that’s for sure :D. I think the half time dynamic of the NA format helps promote aggression as if there are 5 minutes left in the map, you want to score a point instead of just wasting an advantageous position. 2 20 minute halves would be much better than 2 30 minute halves in my opinion. For once a week league action, 30 minutes almost seems too short while 40 minutes is a good compromise. Shorter halves, but that would promote attacks.

Instead of playing 1 map, we play 2 maps at 30 minutes each. I think, if anything, the 30 minute format promotes aggression even more than the American one, because once the time is over, that’s it, no comebacks. It produces a spectacular final 15 minutes in some matches. Case in point: TCM vs idk?, and www vs Dignitas – two matches where both teams played all out aggressive, with spectator pleasing results.

When you consider than a team can feasibly roll you on 1 round in under 90 seconds, it makes attacking to gain a further advantage a much more enticing prospect, as it not only gives you momentum in subsequent rounds, but also makes your chance of losing much less than if you turtled with a narrow lead.

Ahhh. I was watching some ESH euro matches and some from other tourneys. Looking around ETF2L I thought you guys just played 1 30 min map for league play. Draws aren’t common in American sport, but I dont mind them. Round difference doesn’t affect whether its a draw or not? 3 round win compared to 1 round loss still equals draw?

In that sense the NA system allows more come backs and still has the clock anxiety at half time. I was watching a match on freight where a team got a bad train at mid, then ended up getting countered all the way back to last and losing a round right before half time, big psychological hit.

The difference between first to 5 or most points is pretty significant as well. I think 2 x 20 but with a most points scored format would be a great compromise between the two systems.

You guys switch to bo3 for playoffs tho right? Or Golden Cap?
