suddenly getting bad fps. it was fine on thursday though :(

now I drop fps from 60-90 to 30-50 if I’m near an explosion/gib/medic heal beam. I’ve tried restarting, quantum’s fps cfg and m0re’s fps cfg and I still get the same result (awful fps). I’ve also disabled the steam sync bullshit but that hasn’t helped.

I’m not sure if its the same thing, but a friend of mine had the same kind of a problem and tried the same things you did, and it didnt help.
apparently, he solved it by using both m0res cfg hud and maxing out AA and AF to max (whatever those 2 mean >.>). m0res cfg alone didnt work. not sure, but wont hurt to try :3
edit 1: maxing those 2 out should do the opposite but it worked for him. “odd” he called it

I get a similar problem, the game will drop FPS in areas with high player concentrations. Then whenever I kill someone it often freezes completely for a short period.

This coupled with apparently unfixable warp lag (which causes me to randomly freeze and then teleport a few metres in the direction I was running), which I’ve had for ages, makes the game pretty frustrating to play at the moment.

AA = Anti Aliasing, smooths edges
AF = Anisotropic Filtering, a method of enhancing the image quality of textures on surfaces that are at oblique viewing angles with respect to the camera where the projection of the texture (not the polygon or other primitive on which it is rendered) appears to be non-orthogonal. (Wikipedia ftw)

i get a a really unplayable lag when i kill some one it goes on for aboout 5-10 seconds then its fine :/

Is your antivirus program avg or are you scanning while your playing?

Turning off ingame overlay, steamcloud synchronization, my antivirus seems to have made these fps lags less frequent.
