TF2lobby opens to the public

Humbug (our resident tech guy) was debating adding SourceMod to our TF2Lobby server and including our Mumble Joining Plug-In ™ to make it possible for people to use OUR mumble when they join OUR lobby. It’d be set up to join a different channel based on what colour you are on and all you would have to do is have mumble installed and type !mumble
Unsure if he is going ahead with it, but a good idea i thought :)

Should go ahead with that- we’d love to be able to point people towards it if they insist on external voice, and this is the kind of community solution we were hoping would pop up

Well if that’s the case you should lead the way, get Valve to install the plugin on the servers they gave you and get a community mumble server up for it.
I’m sure NE could supply at least some mumble channels for something like that

Note that all humbug’s plugin does is point the game at a mumble:// URL i.e. if a lot of people want an external voicecomms option, the tf2 lobby system could launch it for them in the same way it launches the game
(though the decision not to explicitly support external comms does make sense to me)

MangyCarface Are every EU server Estonian which you have located in europe…? seems every server you create if you don’t have your own server is .ee marked, which leaves nearly all EU players with a 90+ ping, which is nearly as bad as an US server for europeans.
Please set up / ask for some UK / NL servers, since this lobby is only credit to the US player so far. and there is like 3x maybe even 4x as many EU players during the normal playtime, than US players during their playtime.

I am sorry if this question was already raised and answered but is there anything you do that ensures that the rcon pw does not get in the hands of the wrong people? An admin in a german forum refuses to use their server because “No way I am entering our supersecret rcon pw in some form on a homepage…” Anything to ease this man’s fears?
Theres only one person who would even remotely be able to see the rcon password and that’s FLOOR.
If you dont trust a guy who pretty much just spent the past month coding a project to expand the competitive community thats your choice. But for real, wtf are going to do with a european rcon password anyway as an american.
You wait in a months time when everyones forgotten about tf2lobby floor master takes his revenge and installs this on every eu server!

or don’t use your standard rcon password while your server is in lobby mode
have different config files that set different rcon passwords
Speaking of updates- Valve’s restored all 16 EU lobby servers for a total of 19 available EU lobby servers. Lobby up, and thanks to valve!
