does it work without the cfg ? just when you start tf2 normaly ?

I got the same problem too but I always thought that the demos were broken..

could it be that your trying to watch a demo that was made pre-class update? i’ve seen ppl having problems playing demos for that reason and the only fixed i’ve heard of is to install a stand alone copy of tf2 that is pre-update relevent to the time it was recorded.

though from your error it may be something to do with your gfx. you could try finding the lastest DirectX and installing that or the lastest drivers for your gfx card, or do both. from what you have said about reinstalling TF2 etc, then i would guess that something is happening outside of the TF2 program to make it not work and gfx based stuff is the best place to start with.

of course, be sure to get someone to confirm that the demo’s you are trying to play actually do work and it’s just you that can’t get em to work. i only say this because it may be the case your truely unlucky and none of the demos you get work :D

I had this problem ages ago, update drivers etc. etc. I can’t remember the exact fix but when I do I shall let you know, iirc it just required something updating.

Hmm, just realised it was working fine until ive started using numlocked’s HUD?

disable multicore rendering options

I’d wager on that fixing it.
