oh hai
Aron and I have been working on a little update for the recording tool.
Whats new?
– You can now compile tgas to lossless .avi and h264 encoded .mp4 videos in the recording tool :o.
– Included the option to encode movies to h264.
– Improved thirdperson movement. You can now do a full 360 degree turn around the x-and y-axis. Also added auto-spin scripts for the thirdperson mode (Keys: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).
– Updated the HUD, (removes the head counter and buff banner bar)
– Included an option to remove the “announcer and domination sounds”.
– Updated the interface for the GUI.
You can download the new version here:

even newer -> http://www.pldx.com/downloads/2959/TF2_recording_tool_051/
IF you want to compile the videos in the recording tool you’ll need to download two files.
I’ll briefly explain how to setup the compile video / encode movie tool. You need to download mencoder and mp4box (we couldn’t include those in the moviefiles because of licensing issues…)
Here are the links:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/mplayer-win32/files/mplayer-mt/revision%2029319-mt/MPlayer-p4-svn-29319.7z/download
http://www.videohelp.com/download/MP4Box-0.4.5.zip
Just copy all the files from the archives into the moviefiles/mplayer folder and the video tools should work. The compile video and encode movie tools can be found under the tools tab.
The lossless avi uses the huffYUV lossless compression and you might have to configure it to be able to import videos into Vegas/Adobe.
You can read how to configure huffYUV here (you can also read how to get the video tools to work here):

screenshots of the program can also be found in the link
just post and ask if you didn’t understand something.

so much credit do you give to one and you don’t care about the other, nice.

Anyone understand what he is talking about?
Nice work aron and salmon
Right ok, I see what you mean.
Very useful tool, thx.
whats the good with being able to encode to mp4 in the program ? is it only the fottage you have recorded, or also the fottage you have renderd from an editing program?
This is great, will probably convince me to do something useful with all the demos I have lying around, thanks for the time you guys spent to make this (aron :p) and for making the tutorials etc to help nabs like me not be retarded :D
edit: to above: you can use the tool to encode a whole movie after you’ve exported it uncompressed from vegas or w/e (at least that’s my understanding of it), as long as you used lossless AVIs to make the movie with.
