Damage numbers - opinions?

Finally someone who came up with this.
I want to see them banned from official matches.
its an ingame cvar, i think you can even toggle it on / off while ingame.
How do you expect that to be moderated, mandatory screenshots every hit?
bind "mouse1" "+attack1; jpeg"
?
I know this and I don’t know how disable it for everybody. Probably a new server command to disable the damage numbers would do it.

Totally agree with berserker on this one.
It reduces the randomness of the game which is pretty good.
Sometimes, I hit a meatshot but deal very little damage, sometimes I totally miss but make some damage. The game is just a software after all and it is really good to know these errors mostly caused by loss, latency etc.

i love to see how many shots i miss with scout
and i love when using sniper i do 250 damage and people doesn’t die xD

Hitsounds would do just fine – would be using instead of numbers if it was an option. Anyway I don’t agree this has anything to do with the skill ceiling. It just removes some randomness which is mainly a good thing. You should be able to get a trustworthy feedback whether the shot hit or not. The visualization can’t be trusted and the screams are not any more exact.
People are used to estimate the hits needed to frag an opponent. now it’s only more accurate. You can’t claim the estimation is about the skill since visual feedback is inaccurate in many cases.

i really like the idea of it, at least you can give proper damage reports (WEAK when their on 100 or more =>). plus it gives you a good insight into the buggy hitregs

Only beep when you can see the enemy, just like damage numbers. Would fix using beeps to spam corners etc.
Hitbeeps would be mostly usefull for scouts. Damage numbers also work well on soldiers, demo’s and even medics.

I dont know they annoy and distract me…better without them
is it possible to have a serverconfig that blocks comments like combettext_0
i know that in the esl css server cfg there was something that forced you to have importent settings and it kicked all players from the server that had wrong settings….corect me if iam wrong.
