Damage numbers - opinions?

If you could actually know how much damage you dealt without them. Usually, atleast for me, the hitreg is so bad it’s always guessing about the damage dealt.

It’s what we asked (atleast some of us): hitbeaps without the ability to spam blindly. I dont see how it lowers the skill ceiling, since there is NO other way of telling how much damage you delt. I’ve been in a situation where I’m 100% sure I hit atleast 1 meatshot, while the deathscreen shows that my killer is full health. So sounds, blood and other signs cant be used to decide how much damage you did. Although, if valve could be bothered to fix those, I think numbers COULD be banned.

You can judge the amount of damage done on the amount of particles reflected from scattergun for example? A lot of good players know exactly how many shots they need to finish someone so don’t generalise.

As solly I welcome the addition. Especially in a source game I think this is excellent.

We had a lengthy discussion about hitsounds before and people were so against it for whatever reason, now look what you made them do.

i like them. if the hitreg wasnt so shit in this game i wouldnt mind playing without them. playing the german version of the game doesnt give you proper feedback if you actually dealt dmg or not

It seems to me like alot of the valve employees have been playing alot of borderlands. It gives off that kind of vibe. On a serious note, they need to show critical hits and there should be a way to modify it in the multiplayer options.

I think its a great idea, saves people whining “OMG I HIT HIM WITH A MEATSHOT AND NO REG”

if anything eon it brings that up.

kinda sucks seeing as you can sometimes bluff in a scout duel by confronting your enemy even when you’re low and he thinks you’re not so he runs. makes every class a lot easier to play if you have the brain for it tbh.

Wait. You want to remove them since you can actually tell how much you hurt another entity in the pixel-world, as opposed to guessing — hence ‘lowering the skill-ceiling’?
