I had my first duel [duel_duel_pro] the other day against someone I was deathmatching in a match 9/10 times, but I struggled in the duel, I didn’t expect to do incredibily but I felt like I really underperformed, does anyone have any tips or a link to somewhere to help improve?

duel != 6v6

Just sidestep and move your mouse minimally, practice with the pistol and you’ll improve with the scattergun.. assuming you are a scout?

tr_airshot_v0 is probably a more effective and quicker warmup method than duel_duel2_pro. Doesn’t mean you have to find an opponent, just launch the server and play. However, you shouldn’t use that map how it was intended, but just to get you focused and comfortable with your mouse in your first game, it sounds gay but you won’t learn anything for 6v6 aiming and movement in duel2 :)

The most important tip i can give you though is to really focus on your crosshair, don’t just stare at the entire screen and hope you aim at the middle, which is what the majority of players do ^^

If you’re a soldier, predict foot movement and try and make sure you’re the one making the first shot, landing the first one is always devastating for the opponent as you’ve more than likely juggled him slightly, giving yourself the advantage in prediction for next shot. Also, play aggressive, so many players try and stay back when hitting rockets, the closer you are, the harder you’re going to hit, don’t give them any room to move.

This is how I’ve gone about duelling anyway, it works most of the time :)

I find I’m much better in duel, then in most one v one match situations :P

I reckon I panic in matches :)

Don’t worry about pure dm. Says nothing about in-game performance. I fucking blow in pure dm situations.

Thanks to all that replied, I play soldier but many thanks nvc. I don’t really care for it much but I’m just interested, I want to be competent in most areas, so I don’t flop in bball/turris just for Js

I never played bball or duel anyone (because I’m a nub ¬¬). Also hitting airshots in bball is much easier than in 6v6 since you don’t have surroundings etc…

Playing on the 10 slot deathmatch servers has helped me a lot since my consistancy sucks balls, so playing on pubs ruined me for 6v6 :P It also helps you against scouts because you always have about 3 of them trying to kill you (although it’s annoying, it does help you).

soldier in duel is all about hitting every rocket :)
you have to adjust the distance and have a proper movement

I’d love to say something more, but seriously, those are the only things you can do to get better.

There are no special tactics, the most effective one is spamming long range whilst dodging rockets. Jumping doesn’t work on competent people.
