Oh guys, lol, wtf with you. Does he really deserve such discussions? There are 130 banned users. What will happen, if everybody like nvc will start such topics. These problems are only his and only he has to prove that he isn’t a cheater. :o

I don’t care about joske and I don’t know him, but I hate it when people say that ‘You have to prove you didn’t cheat’, that isn’t how it works, you are innocent until proven guilty.

Also getting banned from a league for cheating in a different game is just stupid.

Not only is that WRONG in terms of proof, it’s also bullshit. Burden of proof is not on the person, it’s on the accusor.

We’re not talking about an average tf2 cheater such as payard or 20 russian guys you think you know. We’re talking about a guy who has never cheated at tf2, everybody knows he’s never cheated at tf2 as he’s turned up to LANS and proved it time and again. This isn’t about cheats and it’s a completely unique situation, so yes it’s probably worth all this discussion.

We’re talking about a guy who is potentially going to be banned for cheating in a different game a year ago. Not only that, but the admins have waited until THIS SPECIFIC TIME to enforce the ban in order to keep him banned for the longest possible time because 1 or 2 admins simply don’t like him. They knew about this originally, but they waited to spring it on him.

We’re also talking about a guy who is going to end up -if admins get their way, and i don’t see why they won’t- getting banned for a LONGER TIME than payard who has admitted to cheating competitively in tf2.

All these people bitching about keeping a clean league – that’s not even under question, and everyone knows that about josh. 1 thing you can say about him for certain is that he’s a top quality demoman, fully legit.

WAKE UP. Why the fuck is someone who has NEVER cheated at tf2 going to get banned for longer than a guy who HAS cheated at tf2?

Sweet.. But why has he created new account and tried to prove, that he’s just the other guy. He isn’t a cheater, what’s the target? Isn’t he?

I’m not saying it’s right, but the standards have changed. Payard got the punishment for cheating when he cheated, if he cheated now he would’ve had a much larger ban. The timing and reasons for banning are maybe slightly suspect but Joske being banned for longer than a cheater perhaps only indicates is that the rules were perhaps too lenient back then (and retroactive punishment wouldn’t be right either).

Joske isn’t the only person that’s going to get banned for this, where are the people defending the other VAC2 banned non-TF2-cheating people that will suffer from this?

Just to clear some rumours up, I didn’t create a new account to prove I could join TF2 servers, my initial account with tft + sf4 on it was sold and therefore I purchased a new account, it is about 10months old as it was the one in which I used when I aliased as ‘2SYK’.

Retroactive punishment wouldn’t be right yet you’re defending the potential decision?

Banning josh NOW for something 10 months ago WHICH THEY KNEW ABOUT WHEN THEY INVESTIGATED HIS ACCOUNTS AND BANNED HIM PREVIOUSLY would constitute nothing more or less than exactly “retroactive punishment”. They are banning him now that the rules have changed for something which they knew about before the rules had changed. The guy’s been banned near a year now anyway.

Don’t forget, he hasn’t cheated at tf2. So you’re arguing for more hefty punishment on someone who we all know has never cheated at tf2, whilst arguing that allowing someone like payard to continue playing is completely fine. The situations are different, there’s no comparison between payard and josh.

You’re GENUINELY trying to tell me that it’s right, just, or fair, to ban josh for longer than payard – someone who has cheated this league in competition? Give me a fucking break. I’m getting tired of this. This is pretty much the deal breaker. Ban someone who hasn’t cheated us for longer than someone who has. Brilliant.

Also as josh said the new steam account is nothing to do with any bans. IIRC he sold them when he moved to london and had no time to game and no use for 3 accounts.

+1

Banning someone retroactively for something they’ve known for a long time is complete bullshit. The fact he’ll be banned longer than someone who actually cheated in TF2 while he didn’t is retarded.

Banning someone for hacking in another game simply isn’t fair.

i’d like to read what some admins have to say about this.
are they never answering in these kind of threads, or i just missed it?

He’s commented, but he needs time to come up with a good story. The VAC2 post they made was a good way of trying to make the vendetta look legitimate, they’ll probably just stick to that story.

Give them a few days, they’ll come up with a reason why it’s better to ban josh for longer than payard, it’ll probably look convincing too.

Apologies for the wall of text!

I don’t think they will comment on this, as it would then mean they should comment on all banning cases in the public forum and that’s proverbial can of worms they will be trying to avoid.

Although I think a statement needs to be made, just too clear things up, however clear the admin team thinks they are. It’s clear that ppl here just can’t understand what the legitimate reasons they have for banning Josh are, me being one.

Saying that he’s got banned in another game on the same engine isn’t a valid reason, it’s something that the admin team have remembered and decided that they should use now. It this information was going to be used, it should have been done at the time of discovery and applied with the other bans. This isn’t right or fair, but at the end of the day, they make the rules and they can do what they like.

I hope common sense prevails and that he’s allowed to play, he’s a sound guy and for the ppl saying that he use to act like a twat etc, ppl can mature very quickly, even over months. It takes a lot of character to admit when you’re wrong and take responsibility for your actions. Josh has done this, maybe it’s the admin’s turn now.

For people who still don’t get it (almost everybody in this thread):

1) Joske is not yet banned

2) Joske punishment has to do with the new ban policy, and nothing else http://etf2l.org/2009/10/25/anti-cheat-section-bans-more/ He’ll receive the same punishment as anyone else, why would he be an exception?
