The new update added the following function:
“Added server ConVar “tf_teamtalk” to allow alive/dead teammates to talk with each other during a match (default is 0)”
So,is mumble/vent still neceserry?
now instead of paying for vent/mumble servers you can finally pay for good quality midget porn.

i like mumble
Yes, how else are you going to coordinate stuff before matches and just generally socialize between matches?
Last time I checked in-game comms are recorded with source TV demos, I’d rather keep our comms private.

Socialize? im a gamer. >:(
but I guess it would be easier in matches, will help to see whose talking on mixes etc. and should help against spies.
Noway for ingame comms. As addition to said things, think about latency: excepting the plus of mumble – low latency voice chat – there is another idea. If your whole team live in 1 country and you are forced to play on server with high ping, you should still use lowping mumblevent server.
edit: Gaz, basing on your country location, you have approximately 100+ pings on all eu servers… there is no way for comms with latency over 200 ms (100 outgoing + 100 ingoing) =) easy formula

actualy server comms = mumble latency… as long as u have same server locations… found that out with fb servers and fb mumble :D
not that im fan of ingame 22khz 11kbit sound quality

lol I live in israel with a good ISP,not in the desert with an internet camel. I acctualy manage to score 70-90 most times, plus the NGN should be avilbale soon on my ISP so..
And im not hte biggest knower about latency,I dident know the latency of the ingame voice chat is higher then the mumble’s… that pretty much takes it out of the equation.

ahaha, I have not said, that you live in desert or smthing bad.
I’ve played alot of pcws with Israel teams and they always had 100-200 pings =(
We dont use same server for mumble and tf2. We have about 5-20ms latency for mumble and 60< for tf2 (in the best conditions). So the choice is obvious.
If you use mumble with 200 ms latency, you might die before you can even scream “SCOOOOOUT FROM BEHIND!!” =)

Thing is(ill take israel as an example since its somthing I can relate to),if an israeli playes with a european team(happens alot) or just playing @ mumble from abroad, will the mumble still have better latency than ingame? Cause I guess then when playing with a server and players from your country(like an israeli gather) its acctualy better if you’d use ingame comms..
an internet camel
You just made my day.
Oh and no just eugh to the idea of ingame comms.
