actually lans are great fun. Has the aspect of meeting them e-buddies and also it’s pretty jiggy to have 50 ppl cheer for an airshot you just made :P

I also notice that most of the people here saying they play just for fun and that money isn’t a factor are the people who have never played with money on the line.
ive prolly won more with tf2 then you will ever in your entire life…

The thing you guys call fun on lan cause there is a price involved. Its just you being horny for the HS you’re going to win (for the 6th time) It has nothing to do with you playing the game, you’re just getting excited for the price not for playing the game…

2. How about you stop pretending you know what makes “us” tick.
3. I’d change my major to something less complicated than psychology if i were you. You clearly suck at it.

I’ve been to two lans – i37 and TCL. I found playing on stage, in front of 100+ people in the final with a prize of £0 a lot more of a buzz than playing the TCL quarter final; for the possibility of winning prize money. I did get a buzz from the TCL quarter final, but the money wasn’t the main reason.

Doubtfull as I have more TF2 LANs than anyone in the community.
As for LAN’s they aren’t just about prizes and competition but the fact you get to meet up with your friends online and have a good time. Unless your dignitas and have to be in bed by 9pm or ODEE shouts out you.

True, final stages are very exciting, but even more so when you have a big final stage and a big prize fund.
But do you play ONLY for the money? That is the question. Of course it’s more exciting to play for money, its more on stake. But if you only play a “GAME” for the money then there is something wrong…
Of course not just for money, I enjoy the competition of playing, I don’t enjoy beating teams 8-0 on both maps it bores the life out of me. I do enjoy playing good teams, in close, tense games. These games are more intense and competitive by playing on the final stages/at LAN/ or for money.

Oh I’m agron from dignitas… I can say anything to other players from lower divisions and i think that’s cool oooooooohhhh…. NOT

I have been to several LANS in Holland (The Reality x2 and TCL) and have never finished in a spot which would give me money/hardware. At TCL we (Gathering of [SPA]cial7 Heavies) even finished “last”. Still, I enjoy these events because of the people you get to meet and the large amount of beer and weed being consumed. Considering this, I think its a sad thing that apart from the I-series (where i will certianly go to at least once in the future), there are no big lans and I would appreciate more LANS like the Community LAN.
This said, stop calling people nolifers just because they meet people by playing a videogame. Its always better than just fucking about in some boring pub looking at way to ugly girls while you’re at it. And besides, I am quite sure most of the guys here do enjoy going out and “having a life”.
